I've looked around, heeded some forum advice, and wonder if one on the following headphones on the list might suit my needs:
  1. Audio Technica ATH-M50
  2. Sennheiser HD280 PRO
  3. Sennheiser HD448
  4. Audio Technica ATH-A700

Following this criteria:
  1. Under $150
  2. For electronic music (so great bass, mid range, and high end)
  3. Closed (needs to block noise somewhat)
  4. Reasonably mobile but its mostly for home use
  1. For an iPod mostly so low impedance and highish sensitivity
  2. No amp (so HD448 might be a bit farfetched when looking for bass quality)

I'm looking more toward the ATH-M50's but i'm open to suggestions and possibly other brands/models i've overlooked

the shure 750dj? although they might be more fragile than the M50.  In my opinion the M50 are great.

My buddy has the 448, and while it's a great phone with superb comfort and stellar mids, you probably won't be satisfied with the low end if you don't plan on using an amplifier (especially if you plan on running it out of an iPod). Him and I have done some careful listening to that phone with and without the amp, and we hear a significant loss in the bass when we run directly into the iPod.

Can't speak to the ATs you mentioned in your post...although I've heard good things.

Hope this helps!
