Ortofon e-Q5 Impressions Thread

Need some help from Ortofon users:

I am looking for the replacement of the Ortofon Silicon eartips set:

http://www.ortofon-shop.com/?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage_lite_pdf.tpl&product_id=261&category_id=31

And I find the following on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Ortofon-Medium-Replacement-EarBuds-Cushions/dp/B009QUHQQ6/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1395812809&sr=1-5&keywords=Ortofon+E-Q5

Are they basically the same items or different? Have someone tried this before?

Many thanks in advance.

Nope.  Don't waste your time, money, and headaches.  You can also try to find Grado GR10/8 tips as they are exactly the same as the E-Q5/7.  The Ortofon/Grado tips are very unique in texture and wall stiffness - the best iem tips I've tried.

Thanks, will check out if there is anything from Gardo locally, chance is slim but definitely a new opportunity for that.

I'll be getting these.

Sadly I don't have the e-Q5 anymore, but will post a comparison to the e-Q7 and Grado GR10.

did you notice major differences between these 2 iems ? i managed to buy a new pair of EQ5 at 1/3 of the price for a new GR10

i think these iems got less love than what they deserved - really curious to see how the new EQ models shape up

I've ordered a pair. They should be with me sometime next week. I currently have the eq5 and Grado Gr10, really like them, so hopefully eq8 will have a similar sig. I'll post impressions once I've got them.

do you also think that the sonic differences between them are minimal ?

i always wanted to try GR-10 but its high price (400$) made me get the eq5(for 135$)

Well without trying sound controversial , I disagree with some on headfi. I do find then different. The eq5 definitely have more mid bass , but they do not seem to hit quite as hard and be as fast as the Grado, I'm guessing it has smithing to do with the acoustic chamber on the eq5 . The mids are not quite so forward on the eq5 . The highs on the Grado are more present in your face and I think they pull in more micro detail than the eq5. I also think the soundstage on the eq5 is larger, which I guess gives the illusion of slightly better instrument separation on the eq5. The eq5 definitely are slightly warmer. Both are amazing IEMs and the best I have ever heard. Guess I'm just a sucker for that n20 yashima driver which I believe are used in both maybe modified I'm not sure or even a different iteration, but I think you can clearly hear they are in the same family, but to my ears distinctly different sounding .

Just got the e-Q8 in. First thought: this sounds like an e-Q7 that passed through a correctional facility run by the ER4S. Objectivist brothers and sisters, rejoice!
