Hi all,

Anyone know if its possible to revert to previous firmware? Just updated to the latest 1.30 but not liking the SQ at all. Much prefer the firmware before 1.26. However it seems like I just have to live with it.

Hoping someone might have tried and succeeded. Do I need to root the device etc? I suspect a hard reset wont work change the firmware...

guys, no one succeed to open dp-x1?

it is disgusting using that headphone jacks.
i can rotate 3.5 jack in place and it will apply different force at the different angle and it will get turned to the side a little.

i want to open dp-x1 and replace(resolder) jacks with something decent from neutrik or other reputable company since what do we have now is a joke.

i checked option of glue'ing them inplace (acryl or sugus) - it won't change fact jacks itself is a joke.

it works. no problem but feels... it sucks.
i should have paid more attention to jacks before paying at the shop...

If you have removable cables, you can get 4 wire balanced terminated cables. You cannot and should not attempt to connect 3 wire (shared ground) single-ended headphone cables to the balanced output. Doing so could damage your DP-X1, and it would do nothing for you.

If you can remove your headphone cables and get a set of balanced cables for them, balanced output offers more power to better drive demanding headphones to higher volumes. It also offers common mode rejection, which should help with the perceived soundstage. Onkyo also offers an Active Control Ground mode which some people say provides more headroom and a better sense of spaciousness. I prefer standard balanced with my CIEMs, though. But it is there as an option.

If you don't have removable cables, you aren't going to benefit from balanced. The single ended output is also quite great.

I have standard headphones but will later upgrade to balanced, thank for the helpfull info, look like balanced will make me happy in the future :)
Well I just ordered my DP-X1 for £400 slightly used...

I think someone who work with mobile phone may be able to help and open it safely, I also wonder which battery is inside for later replacing.

guys, is there some high-end (something good and 500-1k$+) dac+amp combo that can perfectly stack with our player? (that will upgrade it) aesthetically. having almost same physical size.

I can't understand why you would pay so much for a DAP that you don't think has top SQ as a stand alone. Carting a stack around is ridiculous IMHO.

I would like to understand as well, using the DP-X1 only as a transport seems like overkill to me, you are much cheaper off with a Android phone which supports USB OTG and USB Audio Player Pro.
I am considering a DAP to get rid of the stack I currently use.....What is the benefit of a DP-X1 and additional DAC?

I have read of quite a few people using the Mojo with the DPX-1. I can only assume that the player is not all its cracked up to be!

horrible ain't it. I'm still stuck with my maimed one.
Showed others at canjam how ridiculous it was sliding off the jack with any movmement and disrupting the music, nullifying the portable aspect of the DAP as far as 3.5mm

3 more days of waiting left until the info on the next Sony DAP is revealed.
I might just sell my DP-X1 at heavy discount and switch back to Sony. But only if it would clearly improve upon the zx2. Sony might've went overkill with its headphone output dial haha but that thing is a tough sob

Hi Cagin. Yes. I wouldn't touch the Onkyo for this reason. I'm looking at the Pioneer. I haven't heard of any issues with that unit.
I have never been pleased with any Sony product I have owned. Beautifully built but not impressive performance. IME. I haven't heard any of their modern DAP's mind.

The acrylic fix is so easy and effective, really the jack shouldn't be a barrier if that is the only issue somebody has. I agree it shouldn't even be a factor, but come on, the fix is stupidly simple and people think nothing of modding headphones so why is the notion of fixing the jack with acrylic such a big deal? And again, yes, I know the user shouldn't have to do so, then again nobody should have had to mod the HD800 either.

Because it voids the warranty. The issues I am seeing on here are really pushing me towards the pioneer. Between the battery issues and the jacks, it has me really worried.

Received my unit yesterday and decided to run a test of the battery -if it has issues will return it,but so far looking good.

Has been playing on my Roxannes (not balanced) on medium gain using the Tidal app for 10 hours now and battery is still 50%.At the rate this is going will be going to bed before the battery is drained.

Getting balanced cables for the Roxannes on Thursday, will rerun the test on balanced output then.

With my CIEMs I was getting 14-16 hours of continuous use which is plenty for me and far exceeds alot of other DAPs on the market.
