Does the DP-X1 have to be rooted to install the Pioneer App?

Don't believe so no.

I just installed the Pioneer APK on my DP-X1 (unrooted).  I think I prefer the looks of the Pioneer music app.

Its kinda weird to me that aren't using the same music app instead of spreading patches and updates to two. Since essentially both daps are made by the same company. The only big question I have always had is if using these third party apps still utilize the dual dacs.

Feeling like an idiot but where exactly is the pioneer apk/music player? Searched the play store but apps seem to be for controlling pioneer products like blue ray players etc. Exact name of app and where to find it?

Download the APK file, copy and paste it into device, and run the APK (works like an .exe in Windows) which installs the app to the device.

Just tested and still got horrible static on tidal. (Most noticeable at around volume 5)

Have you rooted your device? If so, do the af.resampler.quality=4 build.prop change? This has virtually eliminated the horrible static for me in 3rd party apps.

Was too scared to root it due to potentially not being able to update it. But I've already returned mine sorry. I'm sure the issues will be resolved soon though. Especially since a lot of people are posting on onkyos forums now.

Got it - used the AKP Installer App; installed fine. Giving it a try now... took a while to sync my 2x128GB cards. Thanks again...

Any body here who is rooted have any luck with Alsa mixer? No matter which value I change, it makes no difference to the audio.

I really wish I could set the resampler quality on my rooted device. Setting any value, for me, leads to no sound and no playback on 3rd party apps. I will give a try to alsamixer later this weekend.

Like others I get no sound on third party apps when changing the build prop.

Would you be able to give a detailed run down of how you rooted and what you used to edit the file, etc?

Maybe you have done an extra step that is crucial?
