I just got this update 20 minutes ago, it's about 690~MB, haven't read patch notes yet

Tried rummaging through Onkyo's Japan site, the patch note is still on the 1.25.4 version.

UPDATE:
My parcel is at a local Post Office, and I've been charged.
Oh well, never mind.

I'll pick it up in about 8 hours or so from now (01:23 GMT atm).

Is this from pricejapan to uk?
How much was the damage?

Unfortunately, 3rd party players lack this bit of code, and thus are unable to interface well with this audio circuit - hence the distortion you might hear.
Take LG V10 as another example, third party apps are unable to make use of its 'HiFi mode" which switches over to use their ESS DAC over the default dac.

The open question is how much Onkyo has customized their android, in terms of making sure the DAC is used for any audio app used. Frankly if they haven't, it's a big oversight on their part. Maybe it's the other way around though, the 3rd party being written to speficially for CPU use as underlined by some people as soon as the app wants to EQ, DSP or touch the sound then it needs to use the CPU unless it has been written specifically for a given DAP which is unlikely for now. I do think streaming services app do not fall into that category and use the DAC.

If someone at XDA or a skilled android dev was willing to look into the DP-X1 code we would know for sure...

And the other question is did you declare lower value and have you been hit with higher value or not...

To those who have their DP-X1, how many of you use USB audio player pro and how does that work for you?

I saw the Rudi guy use it and it works properly without any hiccups. Why don't just use the stock app? All the enhancement only works in it for now.

As said before, the CPU has no way of converting digital signals into analogue - that work is entirely that of the DAC's
The CPU is simply the middleman in transmitting the digital signal to the DAC. (DSP is done in the digital domain before being transmitted to the DAC)
Also, there's no such thing as 'written specifically for CPU use', every app uses the CPU!!

Also, for a dev to properly look into the code, it's not that easy.
Onkyo has not released open sources for the DP-X1 (nor may they be planning to- it is quite likely that they will keep it closed source as it contains propriety technology like their ACG mode.)
You can't look into closed-source code - not easily at least.

Root a device and everything is possible, but even without that you have apps like Root Explorer, that's not an issue.

Anyone using this DAP with Tidal? Are you guys hearing any hissing? If so, how are you preventing it? Thanks!

Open source code is pre-compiled code.
You will not have access to that even if you root your device.
For an example of open source code, take a look at Github.
