OMG. The same happened to me a couple days ago. It made me so sad. And I thought I was the only one with this problem. I am sending it back to Japan for repair, but I guess now I am more worried if it is not an isolated case.

how did this happen? was it bent hard or just plugged and unplugged?

Thanks for reporting, do you guys happen to have your serial numbers handy, might be a batch ("hopefully")...

I'll be extra super careful, scary thing...

pato128It look really scary. Now I must extremely careful when I unplug 2.5 mm jack. I wish you can get your unit back as soon as possible.

What I'm curious about is does the jack not function after this happens, or is it cosmetic? I'm wondering if it is just cosmetic could some kind of glue be used to reattach the piece? For now what I do when I unplug is to make sure my fingers hold down against the jack facing while I pull the plug out. Not that we should have to do so, but I think by doing this consistently it would prevent this. Hopefully pricejapan is contacting Onkyo to determine if this is a widespread problem, or what if anything users can do short of sending in the unit if this does happen to them.

So far it is a small sample (2) that we know of. That is still 2 too many, but it is possible these are quite isolated, or there was a production batch issue where not enough adhesive, or a different adhesive was used? Who knows, right now I don't think there is enough evidence for anybody to get freaked out, just be gentle.

As an aside, how many people have third party applications on the DP-X1 and can confirm the results that others are reporting with that test drum track as linked above?

It does look to be a cosmetic piece above, and the report before that also seems like the owner tried to continue using the jack after the shield outside broke off...which eventually broke the inside jack and separate it from the circuit.

To me, it look like a design flaw, which the shield is glued to the case, and the shield itself is acting as a stabilizer. Yes, I think some gorilla glue is going to fix it

It seems to happen with the balanced out so far but I don't see why it shouldn't happen with both... I am going to be wary of the straight plug on my balanced cable...

Well, if it is only cosmetic and related to the outer shield like I mentioned, I can have it glued on without much problem at all. You are correct, I don't see why it wouldn't happen to both

Woo hoo my new SanDisk Ultra 128 GB microSDXC UHS-I (UHS 2) cards plus with SD Adapter (approx 80 MB/s, Class 10 FFP) x2 is coming tomorrow!
biggrin.gif

Paid £39.99 for each (that's $57.02 US), for a total of £79.98 ($114.04)!
eek.gif

I was going to buy the Lexar Professional 128GB 1000X MicroSDXC UHS-II (UHS 3) card but that's £90.05 ($128.39)!!!
blink.gif

Minus some on-board memory that I obviously can't use, that'll be about 250+ GB alone, far bigger than my iPod Classic 160GB!
Not exactly enough for all my music but great for all my high-resolution and vinyl rips! Can't wait for the 250GB, 256GB, and 512GB cards to be released sometime this year (and then drop in price very late this year!).

The Lexar LSDMI128CBEU1000R (EAN / barcode: 650590189694) is around £70 when "Dispatched from and sold by Amazon":

£67.68 Expedited Delivery for Prime members

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00U0XG678?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

(note the SMID / Seller Marketplace IDentification suffix for Amazon.co.uk is A3P5ROKL5A1OLE, explained at:

whose database is searchable at:

with the databases of other European Amazon sites searchable at:

MyMemory sell at a similar price:

£70.99 Delivered

https://www.mymemory.co.uk/Micro-SDXC/Lexar/Lexar-128GB-Professional-1000x-Micro-SDXC-UHS-II-U3-Card---150MB_s

(Both are UK authorised Lexar retailers:

http://www.lexar.com/where?field_country_nid=3246&field_resellertype_value_many_to_one=All

and both are cheaper than buying from any US authorised Lexar retailer, who all charge around $120 for the US SKU LSDMI128CBNL1000R.)

I already sent the unit back to Japan, So I won't be able to confirm if it still works. I won't feel comfortable just applying some glue to the ring, it came out with a piece of the black plastic from inside the jack.
Hopefully they won't charge me for fixing it, but I have no experience with customer care and warranty from another country.

Wow, how did it happen to you ? Did the shipping fee hurt a lot ?

"I really hope that Onkyo would fix this issue. There is no point for using Android if 3rd party apps sounds worse than any smartphone"

This is to some extent a matter of personal preference.
Of course, if the DP-X1 is being marketed as a DAP suitable for use with streaming services, then if there really are issues with using those services, this issue ought to be fixed as the DAP is otherwise not fit for (advertised) purpose.

Having said that, I have approximately zero interest in using streaming services (or indeed any wifi or online things); I just want a DAP to play my stored music on beautifully.
With this in mind, my last DAP was a Colorfly C3. It sounded good, but the "UI" was something like 1/2 an inch square with an almost command line interface.
I put up with it because the sound is my prime focus, followed by technical specs and ease of navigation.
So for me, there's absolutely a point to using Android, or any UI that works well and makes navigation more like something approaching iPod standards, regardless of 3rd party app issues.

I mention this as I have 'requirements' which I feel very strongly about, but through my time on here, I've learned that some other users barely even consider them as a factor and so I've resolved to be a bit less dogmatic in my posts as a result :p
