ONKYO DP-X1 | Dual Sabre Dacs | Balanced | Sabre BTL Amp | MQA | DSD 256 | Android 5 |

DP-X1 and Topping NX4 DSD working great together. Plenty of power form the little DAC/Amp, great sound quality (no noise floor, channel balance right at any level with Sony Z1R and Noble K10). I finally don't care about flimsy Onkyo audio jacks. I know, I know, an extra device, but the little powerhouse actually looks cool attached to the DAP in its Dignis black leather case. Thanks to this new acquisition I will be using my DP-X1 more and the LG V20 goes to my wife.

One more thing: the bass boost on the NX4 works pretty well actually, love it with rap and EDM. O possible solution to bass lovers that can't EQ in Tidal.

If you still have one of these in functioning form I would epoxy the headphone jacks in place ASAP. I have the Pioneer version and I did just that. I'm still afraid to use it and it never leaves my house...lol but I do feel a little better about it. I hope Pioneer/Onkyo release a sequel to the 300R/DPX1 that really fixes this damn problem. Like someone said, ACG mode on this player is superb. Wipes the floor with my ZX300 in balanced ACG mode. Although at least I'm not afraid to use my ZX300 and it can even leave the house with me LMAO.

ACG really is amazing but does seem to drain a bit more than BAL. When I handed the X1A to my siste, my instructions were "Always have it on ACG, unless you need line out"

Hi Guys
Looking at selling my Onkyo dap.
If i do a hardware reset without the SD card inserted will that wipe all my personal Data from the Internal Rom?
I'm selling it with the SD card ,but want to leave an Album on there so they can Listen, to sample the Audio, so to speak
I don't think the SD card keeps any personal Info ?
Regards Clueless :)

I've just noticed that my Onkyo DP-X1 screen is coming off! It's lifted from the left side of the case approx. 1-2mm. I didn't notice this before as it's always in it's case. Does anyone know about/have an issue with this happening to the DP-X1?!?!?!

Can i get this fixed? It was scary enough with the audio ports (epoxied when I received it)

Thanks in advance,

Claus

I've seen where some devices (possibly the DP-X1, as well) get pushed apart by swelling rechargeable batteries.
Have you had any charging or battery issues with your DAP?

No charging problems whatsoever, I've never let the battery get below 40%. Anyone know how to take this thing apart? I've worked on several phones/tablets so I'm no rooky,

Thanks,

Claus

Someone posted a disassembly with pictures either in this thread or the Pioneer one for sure.

OK,. Finally got a chance to look at this thing and.... Looks like a swollen battery!

You can see in the 3rd picture and last picture and very obviously in person, that the metal plate under the screen is bowed up in the middle, which forced the screen up.

Any idea how to fix this?!?

Any help would be appreciated!

Claus

The hard part about working on the DP-X1 is taking it apart, which requires pulling the screen off (like a cellphone).
So, it looks like that part of the job is done.
If the battery has a Part Number label, you may be able to find a replacement on the Internet.
Then you'll need some appropriate glue, to reattach the screen to the case.
