Wifi on the 30R is pretty sketchy. Sitting maybe 5 feet from my router I have a weak signal(I have a top of the line router). Walking to the other side of the room wifi completely drops out at times. 2.5ghz seems to work a little better but not much. Sometimes when it drops signal it forces me to log back into Tidal once I reconnect. If you've had to log into anything on this device, you'll know it's a royal pain. Since streaming is a big part of how I want to use this device, it's an issue.
I have a balanced cable arriving tomorrow so I'll reserve my comments on sound quality until then.
Thank you for the repIy. Personally, I don't stream but I get your point. I would probably upload 70-100 folders and listen to those offline. I am very curious about your input on the sound quality, waiting for the updates.
Hi Expat852 thanks so much for your screen photo, i went out the purchased the s1 because of this news. and successfully got it working! with the external dac function, buying the s1 is no brainer! thanks so much for the help on figuring out the ext dac function! how can i live with out you guys!
I'm wondering if it will do it "AK" style and require both the 3.5mm and 2.5mm to output to dual 3 pin XLR. I've tried it with my X5iii and it hisses. If I only use the 2.5mm TRRS, it sounds good, but the noise floor is worse than SE. So... X5iii is going to be replaced, hoping this will do it so I don't have to go up to a $1000+ device to get that functionality. I was going to use on my Jot (currently up for sale), will be using it with my RA2B.
Trying to decide which is the better model to get the Onkyo dp x1A or the Onkyo Dp s1 are they similar in performance sound etc, bar the screen (bigger x1a smaller s1) and android x1a.
If you're looking for absolute sound performance you should be better off with the DP-X1A. I think one would likely get the DP-S1 for its form factor e.g. for transport or stacking purposes

I am not sure if anyone notice that the dp-s1 doesn't play back dsf files ripped by sacd-extract well, it won't advance to the next song on some of the disks and created loug clicks between songs. The dff works but dff has no tagging functions. I researched that it is indeed the sacd_extract bug, but some of the players plays them well, may be onkyo can do something on the player to by pass the problem? otherwise one will have to re-extract all the sacd iso's.
