Download the file, ie 1.10 Unzip the file to the root of your/a SD card. If you don't understand that, then just download the file, double click it and you will see 3-4 items in the folder that opens. Copy those files directly to a SD card, don't put them in a folder on the SD card. Stick the card in your device, go into settings, there is a menu for updating software, choose SD card instead of wireless and let it do it's thing. I tried doing it wirelessly right when I received my 30r to see what it would do and it said it was up to date despite me knowing that there were firmware updates available beyond what was installed. Hope that makes sense to you, if it doesn't then let me know and I'll walk you through it.

Here's a link for the US version: https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Home/High-Resolution+Audio/XDP-30R-B#downloads

When I first went to the firmware page it was marked as "December 2017" which was weird, but it worked. They have since changed it to Sept. 12

So... how does one update the firmware?
(Software Version: 1.10/17906AEO)

I downloaded the 'instructions' and they are just the new updated feature list.
Thanks

The easiest way is to do it via OTA. Enable the WIFI on player and choose update from settings.

Guys,

I'm on the latest firmware and notice a weird thing happening. Occasionally my screen stays on, I have tried all of the "power management" options, restarted the player, set the Auto display off back to 30 sec but the screen just occasionally stays on. Anyone with the same issue?

Thanks for the firmware update tips. As soon as my new DP-S1 arrives I’ll give it a try. Cheers

I bought my XDP-30 from Amazon in July. There was a 10% coupon at the time which end up to be comparable to the current price without coupon of 23,900 yen. Regular shipping to Taiwan took ~1 week. A couple of things that I found out:
Amazon.co.jp will deliver internationally. Most other merchants will not. You'll be told at the check out and whether the merchant will deliver to your address.
Amazon deducted an an additional Import Tax Deposit (to pay for duties). This deposit was refunded back to me when the import duties were actually not levied.
The 30-day return policy applies. I processed a refund label because I want to return the XDP-30 but later changed my mind and kept it.
The price you see at the check out will be lower than the one in the cart because ~8% Japanese VAT will be subtracted

The overall shopping experience is more or less similar to Amazon US and I would definitely buy from Amazon.co.jp again. With English menus and Google Translate, you should not have any problems.
Thanks Peter!

Ok... with the DP-S1 arriving tomorrow, I'll need a case.
I really like the Dignis leather case I have with my DX90 and wonder if there is anything on the market like that...
Something protective, but workable. Something available in US?
Thanks

(Obviously a noob here, so sorry for the repeat questions....)

Looking at two...
Onkyo DPA-PLS1B available at B&H (kind of).
Musashino - available on eBay.

Anyone have either of these... or both? Would love a comparison.

Cheers

I've seen that before, but it looks like it disappeared again. Noticed couple of days back my screen turns on when ff and rew, quite annoying.

I ordered the 1st one you mentioned from Ebay, Japanese, seller, since B&H "kinda" had it. I wanted the one of the Musashino ones, but wasn't willing to pay $75-100 for one.
