Official X3 1st gen firmware thread--3.34beta: removed 5800 song limit, play through folders--Happy Chinese New Year!

From what I've read freezing during a library update is likely due to bad tags/artwork. I would suggest using mp3tag (or similar) and try removing all tags except artist, album, track, etc. Just keep the basics. I also like to keep my artwork smallish (and embedded), just to avoid complications. If you have your files organized alphabetically take note of where it freezes. That might give you an idea of what files may be causing the problem - if it freezes earlier, could be at beginning of alphabet (this is assuming the update process is also alphabetical).

Recommend a utility for testing FLACs for integrity?

This is all I could find, and I'm unsure if it's enough: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?18890-Corrupted-Flac-file-please-advise-causes-testing

EDIT:

Well, after running the mass-test with dbPowerAmp on my X3's internal storage, a good number of tracks from one album was found to be corrupted. I deleted the album, tested to make sure the copy I had on my computer was still good, then started the transfer. Low and behold: error upon copying. Apparently there's a bad sector on the FAT32 filesystem in my internal storage. What is the best tool to format the internal storage on the X3, which will detect the bad sector properly? Sad to see the "Storage formatting" option in the settings of the X3 can't format the internal storage. Mind bringing that up to FiiO, Joe? lol.

I will do some research on a tool using these forums, myself, in the time being.

EDIT 2:

Nevermind. Found this thread: http://www.head-fi.org/t/723287/fiio-x3-internal-storage-failure-what-to-do

People reported being able to sort large numbers of songs on the latest beta X5 firmware (even though it's not in the changelog). Maybe download and try this latest for the X3? :xf_eek:

My wife bought an X3 and now she misses the folder play function, which had her old Sony player. Is there any solution for this issue, newer firmware or so?
