Here's some pics of my personal unit...I'm working on the second unit that has the 32GB CF card with a Tarkan iFlash card in it but isn't iModded yet...

No problem D...

It definitely sounds better, without a doubt.

When I first got this one...I wasn't sure if the iMod was done...because I was using the wrong LOD. I was using an ALO Triple Pipe instead of the Blackgate one...it sounded the same from the headphone jack.

Once I put the right LOD on it, and took off the FiiO E17 and replaced it with my cMoy BB...holy crap...the sound just exploded!

When I take the subway here I use my Heir 4ai's but at home I use my modded Grado's or more recently I have a pair of  Aerial7 Royale's that are un freaking real...I mean...absolutely amazing.

I normally would have stuck with my Grado's...but my wife kept complaining about hearing what I'm listening to...so I spoke to some friends on here...One of them hooked me up with these Royale's and they are phenomenal. No sound leakage, leather pads, 50mm driver with aluminum cups...etc...

It's like...all of us with portable rigs...we buy and experiment....until we get to the perfect setup...

Ha! Then we usually buy something else and keep experimenting! LOL

Can't be more true, except there is no perfect setup. :)

I take my ipod with me wherever I go during the day, so using amp is not something I want for that purpose. But I need to try one along with the imod to experiment myself what exactly it is. That's what this hobby is all about. But at end of the day, it is the music that has always been overpowering everything else.

Guess I have to keep my fingers crossed as I purchased it already after reading 1 of the reviews on amazon that said it was working. Will post back with results as soon as I try it. Thanks though.

Well if one customer at Amazon confirmed it works for the iPod video then I think you are safe. Just make sure it can fit your ipod (5mm or 8mm drive thickness)

So...could this unit work on slim 160Gb Classic (MC297LL)?

Very tempted to give it a try even at the steep asking price...

Read post #670 & #680. So I guess you should stay away.

But the manufacturer stated it should work on an iPod 5.5. Are we talking about the same ssd?

There's a video on the first page of the thread where a unit of the same brand and lay out gets installed on a 5.5.

Yes we are talking about the same ssd and yes it works as other forum members have confirmed. But if you read no_eye_dear's post, he was saying the fit is an nightmare. I have no experience with this drive and simply point you to those posts for your info.

Wow a great find! I hope someday you guys could help me with this. I'm glad there's hope in using the classic in working out! I'm a storage freak and my 64 gb touch is slowly being all used up. I'm selling this and getting a classic.

Which iPod are you trying to upgrade?

Your link is for a LIF SATA device.

The iPod 5G & 5.5G require ZIF PATA. Maybe it will work with an adaptor, I don't know.

I bought an old ipod video 80gb (V9R). I would like to put a 240gb ssd in it. Now my question is: Can i fit the thick version logic board with a 240gb ssd into a small 30gb version case? Also which 240gb ssds are confirmed to work with rockbox?

thank you in advance

You might have to get the 80gb back to fit the thicker board and the 240gb drive.
