Has anyone had any problems installing an SDXC card on ipod to use with Mac OS? After formatting with windows it now says the iPod is busy when i attempt to restore on mac. I'm kind of sure it's to do with the migration from windows to mac.
What formatting do I need to carry out on sdxc and can it be done with it installed on iPod?
Do SDXC cards work with Mac OS?
Could it be another issue other than formatting/Mac OS?
No. I had tried to restore my 32gb CF card mod ipod mini which was Windows formatted using my Mac iTunes. It displayed exactly the symptom as yours, endless rebooting and restoring. I eventually gave up and using my Windows PC iTunes to restore it with no problem. Hope this helps.Yes, I'm trying windows to mac. Do you know a work around it?
That does ring a vague bell. Do you have a way of formatting the card outside of the ipod (a card reader or some such) and follow the instructions on tarkans site?

That's what I did initially. But this way it cannot be used by a mac
Isn't hfs the same as extended journaled?
Hi there. What SDXC card are you using??
Some cards may be problematic.
I don't usually format sdxc cards either. I've also never had any problems with the one I mentioned. I doubt it would be a problem if used with a mac?
The iPod is still recognised by mac/iTunes. It just won't allow it to restore as it says the iPod is busy.
So you're saying you've restored IPods with sdxc cards on windows and had no problems on mac? If that's the case, where am I going wrong?
I'm probably not the only one having trouble understanding you, you need to hit the "Quote" button when replying to someone, otherwise no one really knows which post you are replying to.
I don't see where you replied to the question as to exactly which brand and capacity of SDXC you are using, this is useful information in trying to help you troubleshoot.
Yes, I have restored iPods using Windows and then connected them to a Mac, it's not a problem, the FAT32 (MS-DOS) disk format is completely compatible with Mac.
I apologise for that. I'm relatively new to posting in forums eventhough ive been following this thread for a while.
I mentioned earlier that I'm using a 7dayshop 128gb sdxc which is on tarkans recommended list. I've never had any issues with them previously especially with the iflash. There's been issues with the generic green adaptors but from what I've read it's probably their fault and nothing to do with the card itself.
So do you think this could be a card problem in relation to the mac? I was told earlier sdxc cards don't simply don't work with Mac OS on the iPod outside this thread and davidcotton, paulhu and Saratoga have also had issues in the past. You can read on this page above.
