Official Ipod Video / Classic 5g+5.5g+6g+6.5g+7g SSD Mod thread

Ok. EDIT:
Crashtest. You must have at least a 6th gen "Classic" I have a 5.5 gen "Video". It is common knowledge that the 5.5 gen doesn't work as a transport with the fostex HP-P1. I Knew this, but I got excited for a minute, since it would be nice to use my 512gb iPod as a music server.

I built it from parts so the motherboard must've been mis-sold! I'll check it. Tbh, I use a 7 now, which still sounds pants without a DAC! Lol

I'm bummed because I want to build a 5.5 gen logic board to a 6th/7th gen frame and face but realized the 6th/7th gen click wheels dont work on the 5.5 video logic boards...

Might just start look for a 7th gen logic board from a broken one...

I'd love to build a wolfson Dac 512gb iPod that works with my fostex HP-P1. I would use it alone while out and about and at home with the fostex.

That was my plan a few years ago but after moving to Head-Fi from Hi-Fi and hearing a proper portable DAC I can't go back. iPods sound so rubbish in comparison.
Did the early 6Gs have the Wolfson DAC?

Sorry for not reading the whole thread as I'm sure the answer is somewhere in the almost 500 pages but perhaps someone would be kind enough to set me on the right path.

I have a 30gb video (pretty sure its the 'fat' one) and a 6th gen 80gb. Whats the cheapest way to go about switching to solid state? Seems the ZIF drives aren't really made anymore. Perhaps an msata with adapter or some adapter setup to use a microSD card as they have gotten quite cheap in the recent years. Any advice is appreciated!

Thanks in advance

Dunno about cheapest but Tarkan's iFlash adapters are the way to go. msata, CF, SDXC or microSDXC. Even dual SDXC.

Ok thanks for that guys, much appreciated. Think will go for NX1, nice and cheap. Thinking of going for this sdxc, http://www.amazon.co.uk/Patriot-SDXC-256GB-UHS-I-Class/dp/B00SNLII8Y/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1452515829&sr=8-3&keywords=256gb+sdxc
Ill take it it will work as 128gb version is on Tarkan list.

This has been recommended by Tarkan : 256Gb SDXC UHS-I (U3) PNY Elite Performance

Actually cheaper to buy from Amazon.com and pay import fees to the UK than buy direct from Amazon.co.uk

30GB Videos aren't fat, they have the slim backs. Your best bet is to grab Tarkans SDXC board and a SDXC card.

This may be true, but I like the iPod sound from time to time, especially when it has a ton of music on it. So can you confirm that you're using a 6th gen Ipod with your fostex?
