Official Ipod Video / Classic 5g+5.5g+6g+6.5g+7g SSD Mod thread

hi guys.
i have a question about Rockbox features.

usually when i used my ipod on the apple firmware, i would put my songs all on shuffle and play through them since my collection is huge.
whenever i found a song that i liked i would rate it 5 stars and keep doing that. eventually i hoped to rate all of the best songs in my collection and make a huge "Best Of" playlist by sorting the highest rated songs on iTunes and creating a playlist.

what would be the best way to do this on Rockbox?

i am having a very hard time creating any kind of playlist and adding songs to it properly. whenever i insert the song it doesn't go in the playlist i created...

also is there a way to see which songs are highest rated and to create a playlist based on just those songs?

thanks!

I'm interested in this as well. To me my main appeal and why I mostly use iOS is for playlists. If there were a way to convert M iTunes playlists over for Rockbox, I'd switch permanently to Rockbox. I just have years of playlists accumulated that I continue to use.

Anyone got an answer for this? Thanks!

How quick is idemigods.com to send stuff? I finally put an order in even though I came close to just getting a new DAP. I just hope the iPod works okay and I don't end up having to get more parts or giving up and selling what I have.

Why don't they list the iflash stuff as something that works for 4th gen.

4th gens Classics use an HD with a different connector. They will support a CF or SDXC mod, but you're more on your own.

General note: unless you have the thick (i.e., 40GB) back, stay with CF or a Type I SDXC adapter. The tolerances appear to be a bit too tight for Type II adapters. (The back will close, but it seems to cause something to short out.)

Does that mean it won't work with Tarkan's adapter? Just order the iFlash bundle from him couple days ago...

For the 4th gen you need something like this to go to CF.  You can then use Tarkan's CF-to-SD adapter to go to SD.

After all I've ordered a Tarkan flash bundle.
Also in the meantime I bought at bargain a 5.5G Video, but it has some minor LCD damage. I wonder if I can use the 6G display in it?
And lastly, the 650mAh is the highest capacity battery that will fit in the slim back, right?

Great like always, the memory card will be the first thing to arrive. I was just looking through the thread and noticed that my 5.5 click wheel might not be great with the Classic faceplate. Do I need to try to add a click wheel to my idemigod order before it ships? What I was originally wanting to know is does the new mid frame need adhesive like the original to make the board stick?

Hopefully some who know these things are still around.

I installed the clickwheel of the classic to my 5th gen when I switched to classic faceplate. The fit is excellent.

Alright, hopefully its not too late to add it. They never sent a shipping confirmation but not everyone does. I was just looking at the little bumps I would have to sand and Im not that crafty. Thanks!

You will notice that it doesn't come with the ground strip, don't worry about that because it works fine without it.

I just hope it doesn't slow down my order or that I don't have to pay for it to ship on its own. I don't think there is anything else that I need and I don't want to spend any more. Especially not $10 on a headphone jack. If the jack Ive got is bad I will just use line out and amp Getting a response from them on the weekend is probably too much to hope for too.

you can't use LCD from 6/7th gen for 5th gen, different LCD and different ribbon connector the won't fit.
