Serial no #255 just landed

Man, that cable is pretty bad though. I've been debating whether or not to recable the HF-2, but now that I've finally got my hands on it and can see the crimping of the plastic at the earcups/Y split, I'm very tempted to do so.

Have any other HF-2 owners recabled their pairs, or are people more concerned about maintaining collector's value?

Good question and I'm sure a collectible headphone, coin, album, watch, faberge egg, diamonds, gold, etc., means different things to different people. Some like to quietly and silently acquire it and enjoy it by never even opening the box...other's still bask in the special feeling that one gets by simply looking upon it....it is a question that each individual has to answer in their own voice.

What is the list to you arcer63?

I think an item gains value when one reads a story of it's origins. It is not enough to simply purchase an item, for some...they like to know what others share in the love of a product. Why do people flock to historical places in the world? I'm sure some people travel from place to place aimlessly and feel an emptiness at the end of the day or their journey only to long to travel again. But to truly appreciate a place, some find that they must read an historical accounting of the destination to truly appreciate events that occurred. A place is just a place, an item simply an item, until we read how it became such...this is substance and this is what some people crave in life and never obtain it.

I get more enjoyment in my headphones by sharing on this forum and reading other's feelings about products that I listen to. I learn from other people's experiences and feelings and this brings more enjoyment for me in my purchase. Of course, in the end, it is extracting every last morsel of sound from the music played through the headphones that matters the most but in keeping with the point of the discussion...the perspectives of people on head-fi I value greatly and some who are on the list are individuals who I've taken great pleasure in by reading their views and reviews....they've helped me in immeasurable ways and the fee is very minimal but their efforts are greatly appreciated.

There's a lot of truth in what Riceboy has in his signature:
"A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality." - John Lennon

If the list makes you uncomfortable, or anyone else for that matter, majority rules, and I'll cease and desist. If you'd like to be removed or left off the list, please let me know via pm and I will comply and understand.

Again, to me it is a brotherhood and I take pride in owning a pair and knowing 499 others are with me and that is all...it's special to me and it's nice to put member's names to the numbers. Perhaps one member would like to share with another about different aspects of the headphone, it is a directory of folks with the product, comparable in so much as it is nice to read your town or city or region's newspaper to find current events or happenings in your area of the world that others enjoy, laugh about, or suffer through. It brings reason and order to an otherwise meaningless and chaotic world-it brings perspective.

PS

No Addresses please.

PPS

The list is also a great way to pass the time while I wait anxiously for my HF-2!

....and at about this time, your sorry you asked the question, correct?

The cable is of much higher quality than it looks, it's well built and sounds nice, with pretty much zero microphonics. I say stick with it.

God I love these toys! So intimate, so involving with a proper tone...no sibilance or piercing highs, the only drawback for me is the comfort...I hope they go better with time! (I've bent the headband and it's better now, but still it is not as comfortable as sennheiser or beyerdynamic) I'm seriously thinking buying a second pair... (time will tell if they are the "new toy syndrome")
