Obscure Chinese DAPs
Sep 24, 2020 at 1:28 AM Post #7,216 of 8,127
Hi friends, does anyone have a suggestion for a DAP that is sub $100 USD with:
1) Bluetooth, aptX is good enough
2) No hiss with sensitive IEMs
3) Can power about 150 ohm stuff
4) No need balanced connections

I have the Shanling Q1 already, very good set, but wondering if there's other gems around this price bracket. Criteria 2 is the most important for myself, no hissing with sensitive IEMs, Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Hiby is going to release R2 soon. I don't know if the specs and price are up to what you wish though. My guess it will be in the bracket of Fiio M5 and Shanling M0/Q1.

GAD H1, an AK4490/AK4493 dap with built in microtube amp spotted on AE (price $100):

The AK4493 version costs about $3 more. This looks interesting as daps with tube amps included aren't usually very common or cheap.
How much difference would the 4493 vs 4490 make here? Haven't used anything with either of those.

Have a look at my thread:

Better don't buy it; at least for now as it has many quality issues.
I have returned mine - bad sound and and software issues.

Hmm. Thought it looked like a Zishan. The sound issue you mentioned in the post in that thread was about using high impedance full size headphones. Well I have the Ibasso DX220 with the nutube amp9 module and that also can't power everything.

I've got the the GAD ADIII portable tube amp too that costs about 50€ and it sounds good with my Tri i3 iems and a TRN pure silver cable.
If the H1 is something similar but with an ok dac as well I'd be happy with it. Will probably order one.

File format support is not an issue for me as I really only use streaming anyway.

My nintaus X10 screen has started developing white spots all 4 corners .
Is it possible to get a 2inch TFT screen and fix it ourselves .

I've been thinking of upgrading my iPod Nano 7G since it's gonna run out of space and the battery is awful. I'd like to have a screen still, expandable microSD, and bluetooth. I'm not too picky asides from that, I only use 16-40 ohm earbuds or IEMs usually. Any tips on which ones I should keep an eye out for, maybe during 11/11? I'm guessing I can get those features for under $100 USD?
