Obscure Chinese DAPs

I do the same for my Ruizu A50. I don't want to wear out the scroll wheel but I do have to use it to select items and to change the volume. I don't think I am a big fan of scroll wheels. I like volume buttons. But...that little Ruizu is awesome! Love how small it is in my pocket ... like the Shanling M1 (which I know is better in some ways but more expensive). I already have my expensive Opus#1 and I have a Cayin N3 which I also love.
The Ruizu A50 to me is more attractive than the Shanling M1 and I think it has a bit better soundstage.
If only it had the OS if the M1....
The scrollwheel of the M50 feels a bit more sturdy too.
But I think I will use the M1 more (however with the N3, the M2s and the NW-A50 underway... Ah, what a luxury problem).

Battery life of A50 is really really impressive. I'm running a battery test and, at this moment, after exactly 24 hours of continuous playing, the battery indicator still has 2 (out of 5) marks. Test conditions are:

Running through the contents of a 64Gb card. Files are primarily MP3 320, but also 192 and 256, also around 15% of Flac. The HO has a VSD3S (2014 version) connected, and volume is at 10/100 (confortable listening level at home, this baby has a lot of juice)

Surely it will last more than 30 hours.

Do you have a set of headphones plugged in for the test?

A massive advantage to me of the Shanling M1 is that as I only use the folder view I don’t have to use a Sorting Utility as it keeps things nice and alphabetical all on its own. The other advantage, which I can’t really do without for most most of my classical albums, is that it does gapless. I wouldn’t buy a DAP now that didn’t do both of those.

I should perhaps add that as a Mac user there is no easy way to sort files on a FAT32 file system.

Sorry, I missed that (face palm).

No problem, my friend. Your question made all the sense, as test conditions must be as close as possible to real usage, although it is not always possible as, for example, this time screen usage has been minimal but, for a rough estimation, it does the job.

Finally, battery life in this test will be a number between 27 and 29. When I left home this evening, with 26,5 hours, the A50 battery indicator had still 1 mark. When I arrived, 2 and a half hours later, it was off. Impressive, anyway.

Anyone tried the Amoi C50 ? It retails for $63 on Joybuy. I'm kinda intrigued. I gather that the Mrobo C5 and Nintaus X10 are Amoi products, so they have a decent pedigree. Here's the link.

Looks decent but like those other DAPs awkward to navigate. I'm guessing the Play button also doubles as the select button and the side buttons for moving up and down in the menus?

A handy tip for Shanling M1 and M2s users.
When you have to scroll through a large list of tracks you don't have to use the scroll wheel (which will wear it out quickly).
Just press and hold the previous track or next track button.
Scrolling will go faster and without wearing out your scrollwheel.

Is this a feature that was introduced on a later Firmware for the M1? Mine is using ver:1.12 and the track buttons do not scroll through lists but always skip or fast forward whatever the screen in use.

Does someone have experience with both Colorfly C10 and C200? Both have really tempting prices at Joybuy, but C200 does not have stock at the moment, while C10 is in stock. The question is regarding sound quality only. I know both of them have a (trying to be positive) half-cooked firmware, but thinking about buying one of them is more a sentimental than a rational decision.
