You played a song that compressed for him?  I can barely listen to The Slip.

it was a flac rip from the cd and made into a 320kb mp3, that a problem? he was using a limewire torrented song.

No, not file compression.  The audio compression.  Everything is loud.  No dynamics.

Compare to, say, The Downward Spiral.

I let my friend listen to my cool SkullCandy Aviator and his response was "wow these sound really good! Damn I should have gotten these and not overpay for my crap HD800." That evening he bought a pair for himself and give the HD800 to his neighbour.

A non audiophile I knew own a pair of Denon ahd2000 and have been hearing his music on foobar with free surround 4.1 and dolby headphone plugins. One day friend offer him a chance to listen to his high end "HD800 + ZD amp" system.
His response??
"oh my PC sounds better"

Skullcandies....*shudder*

Although I haven't heard HD 800s, so I can't say with any certainty that they're better.  Jus' sayin'...

I'd be more likely to believe people who say that they think Beats are better, because Beats buyers are typically unaware.

I want to hear a first hand account of a high schooler who has worn HD 800s to school...
