Just had it on in the gym in favour of the R6Pro and Plenue L, had a listen before I went.

I prefer it to the WM1A and DX200 with any of my amps, Plenue L is probably a draw but L has 4.4mm and a bit better battery
As Jmills described the U8 is analog/vinyl sounding but with loads of detail and a great soundstage, i was hearing stuff on well known tracks i'd not heard before. It does dsd512 but i've not tried it yet.

I would say its at equal level, for me its a great dap, yeah the Pleneu L, N8 , DX200 level but different. It has its own sound plys much smaller. You get a lot in a much smaller package.
