Well I bought the U8 cause of Nayparm mentioning how great it is. Im charging it and will put music in it. I did spent two hours demoung the demo unit. It states it can hold 256 gig sd card, can I put say a 400 gig ?

Wow that was quick what did you think after the 2 hour demo, I'm taking it was positive seeing as you bought one. Did you test on balanced, I've not tried SE yet. I'm not sure regarding 400gig as I only have a 200gig in it.
I would say the system would support it as it's android based but don't know if there music player/library has a track limit.
Did you do the OTA to 2.3 firmware.

Only single ended but I will get a 2.5 connection for my headphone. Ooo how do I download the new FW ? Any change soundwise ? I like the sound how it is.

If you go into settings, connect to wifi and then click on the one bizarrely labeled 'On' info icon next to it.
Click 'System update'
Click the arrow in the circle, it should find V2.3
Click the Online upgrade Square.
It should download and then give you the option to install (if above 33% battery)
I think mine failed to installed first time, after restarting I went back to the same place but then chose Local upgrade which then worked fine.

Mine pops up for 1.5 second looking for any new tracks (Firmware 2.3)

I see, thxs. Only used it at home for an hour here and an hour after the FW update and soundwise its very nice, very analog. It reminds me of playing a record, still very detailed but more emotional compared to most TOTL daps.

Posting to share more about the U8 dap. I bought two of them. One kept stock and the second one I took it to a local audio shop to have it modded. Cost like 350 USD, after using the modded one for 30 mins just seems to have a bit more power. Stock say would put volume at 55 and moded can push the TH900 at 35. Anybody experienced burn in with this dap ?

I've not experienced burn in yet on the u8 but then again I have too many new daps so probably none burned in properly. Currently on the R6Pro at work. Might swap to U8 this afternoon.

Did Romi Audio let you know what they have done ? Power regulators, opamps, caps, output resistor change etc

I just asked for the mod and they mentioned the mod will easily push hard to drive headphones. Im trying to figure out the best eq for metal.
