I'm talking about professional audio equipment, like desktop amps or dacs you sit infront of, where it's more convenient to have a straight plug with thicker cables connected to the front panel of the equipment. Or when you are working with a portable mixer or a pro mixing board where you have a number of cables plugged next to each other and there is no room for angled connector either. Or imagine using a portable DAP like X5 where you want to keep it in your pocket - it's not going to be convenient stuffing your pocket with a thicker quality cable and L-shaped connector with cables wrapped around it versus a clean straight connector plug with a decent tension relief coming straight out of your pocket without any mess. Do you see my point?
