New TOL A&K DAP : the AK Ultima SP1000
Oct 16, 2019 at 4:15 PM Post #7,291 of 9,409
I don't have any info to share at the moment. I will follow up again when they are back in the office Monday morning.

Has there been any news regarding this? Still getting tracks skipping 3-4 songs ahead even on the latest Spotify APK.

Edit: I have just realized this is the SP1000 thread, it's happening on my SP2000 but it was happening on my SP1000M Gold also.

The problem is specific to the processor that we use on the SP1000/SP1000M, SE100 as of the last Amazon Music app update. Other Android-based devices with the same processor are experiencing the same issue with the new version of the Amazon Music app. Up until the latest update, all of our players worked without issue with Amazon Music. Our other players including KANN CUBE, SR15 and ACTIVO CT10 with different processors are not experiencing any issues.

Unfortunately as the app is developed by Amazon, we have no control over the development or when the bug will be fixed.

Just to be clear, the KANN CUBE, SR15 and ACTIVO CT10 all play Amazon Music HD in HD, not resampled? That doesn't seem to agree with other reports.

The app only recognizes them as supporting 24/48. Seems to be a problem with most Android devices as my Android smartphone that supports 24/192 is only recognized by the Amazon Music app as supporting 24/48 also.

Jason: I noticed that several of the newer Android apps available from apkpure.com are now the newer xapk compressed format, such as Apple Music. Would you ask the developer team when they might be able to support this format or, alternatively, I researched that we can rename the file .zip and extract the contents which results in one of the files as an apx to install? Thanks.
I spoke to our dev team earlier this week about the xapk files. They will look into support of them.

Thanks for the clarification. Maybe it will eventually get worked out with A&K. I saw Hiby updated the R5 for full bitrate on Amazon HD a few days ago.

Hello all, a bit of advice needed from the experts...

Looking for closed cans to play on the go with my spkm, hopefully to use with a balanced cable. Obviously low impedance, since no amping is available.

So far I'm looking at the Beyerdynamic T5p 2nd gen (comes with 2.5 cable), Focal Elegia (needing 2.5 cable), Mr Speakers Ether CX (cable problem)...

Any ideas appreciated... my Bday gift for myself.

Edit to add: so far my on the go cans were the Oppo PM3s, which are not bad, but now that I'm used to the Atlas sound... they just sound messy. I would like an upgrade... (wrote "need", but that would be too conceited...).

I have the Beyerdynamic T5p 2nd gen with the 2.5 cable and I love them. I use them in my communte in the train and although not perfectly in isolation; it's enough for my. One thing is that to carry them around you're gonna need a backpack or something because these are not foldable. I usually carry the case in my backpack so that I can safely store them if I need to while on the way or at work.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for the answer!
Folding is not a problem, I'll just park them on my desk at work, and use them as neck brace when needed...

What's your opinion on SQ? Soundstage? Any comparisons?

For me the SQ is superb, compared to the other ones I own, but it is true that my other headphones or iems are not in the same league. I have a Westone UM Pro 50 and my beloved 10 year old grado 225. The westone sound very good for me too but not as the BD. For me soundstage is wonderful and wider than the other two that I own. But i am sure that some other open models will be better in that. Sorry that I am not fluent in the audiophile language .

For portable use, I would recommend the Sony IER-Z1R. They sound more like over the ear headphones than an IEM to me with extended bass and a good balanced sound. They compare well to other headphones and they are small enough to carry in your pocket.

For anyone with Commander One V. 2 having trouble with Mac OS Catalina, I have a link for an older version that works (you will have to enter your serial # to get file sharing/Pro). There is no ETA on a fix, though they say they are working on it.

Thanks! But I want a pair of full sized cans... it's a winter thing... and a change from the iems. Honestly, with the Atlas I feel thoroughly covered.

Thanks, your impressions are very understandable! . The cable really seems to make a difference also, because having the SPKM, ar any AK, and not using the balanced out seems bit of a shame.

If cost is no object (and you like how it looks) then go for the Stellia. I also come from the PM3s.
Never heard the Elegia though.

Yes!!

But if you wanna keep the budget in the Elegia ballpark do consider the MrSpeakers AEON Flow Closed
