I prefer the copper version. The sound feels more analog, more live, more real, and easier to listen to. The stainless one sounded bright to me, I'm sensitive to higher frequencies, and these bothered my ears.
My wife on the other hand, preferes the Stainless SS version. To her the SS sounded more crisp, more clear, more detailed.

The difference between the two is only slight, and my comparison may seem exaggerated compared to how they both sound since I'm focusing on how they sound different, but really they sound more alike than they do different.

SS=detailed and neautral
CU=same detail but warmer, more musical
GD=thicker note, smaller sound stage (along with blue)

This is the thoughts from one of our sound engineers. Again, sound is subjective and also depends on what you are using to listen, so your feelings may/probably will be different.

• SP1000 SS: Spacious and very accurate sound. Clear tone
• SP1000 Cu: More noticeable depth of sound stage with warmer and bolder tonality
• SP1000M Gold: A bit smaller sound stage than SP1000. However, the depth of image is excellent. Tonality is a bit on the warmer side, however it has both of the sound characteristics of both SS and Cu.

Sorry, I thought you had responded that it was working. We do not have a Devialet here to test and troubleshoot. Looking to see if we can borrow one from one of our dealers or possibly test one out at AXPONA this weekend.
