I just got a call from Tech Support, asking me to try the firmware update. I told them I already had and the issue is fixed. At least they know now...

Sony UK is still playing ping pong with me. I'm waiting for them to suggest the firmware. I wrote them ages ago and they suggested contacting the 'repair centre " (in Wales) which I did and then the repair centre suggested contacting support. So far I'm on my 2nd iteration of going back and forth with them referring to each other and nobody has suggested the firmware.

I'm glad the firmware worked because otherwise I'd still be waiting to have some sort of effective communication with the AI at "tech support" from Sony UK

I'm really glad to hear the bass issue is fixed! I've been following this thread for a week (when I started thinking about maybe getting an A300), and this bass issue was really making me hesitate on pulling the trigger (the other thing making me hesitate is that it doesn't come in a fun color yet, sony please release a brightly colored one!).

Oh dear .. sony fixed it in the end and that was relatively quick also .. happy for you all guys
