I just hope it is an improved version of the HD650. I hope they don't sound as the HD800.

Will probably turn out as Beyerdynamics "HD700" model named T70.
Good headphones ,half price, half as good as HD800

Price in europe .
Beyerdynamic T1      1150$
Beyerdynamic T70      600$

I'm anxious to hear, see and possibly buy these phones! But one thing though, why  is everyone so overly optimistic about these? I highly doubt these could sound as good as the hd800's at all, and why should they? The flavor might be different, and you may save some money by not having to pay for the fancier materials; but it definitely won't be as performant.

Let's wait and see!

There are people who prefer the HD600 to the HD650, there are people who prefer the Stax Lambdas to the O2s, the DT880s to the T70s...

...A manufacturer might believe one of their headphone to be clearly better than another, but sound quality is way too subjective for there to be unilateral agreement on that.

A lot of people didn't really like the frequency response of the HD800 and hope the 700 might suit them better. At the talked about price point it is still going to be (or had better be) a world class headphone.

HD 700?

Based on the picture of the jack I'd say we're potentially looking at the HD900.  It will clearly synthesize the best properties of the HD800's and the Sennheiser Surrounders into an uber-headphone the likes of which the world has never known.  During listening tests in an underground lab in Germany, testing participants have probably been known to die of pure aural bliss before the headphones have even been plugged in.

Or, you know, it's just a jack and we have no idea what the HD700 will sound like.

I'd definitely buy a HD900 with a teeny bit of extra warmth or mid and (to a lesser extent) low bass impact. Maybe cull the highs by a very very small fraction too, drop the mid emphasis by a minuscule amount too and you have near perfect. Or they could just do all of the above with the HD700's and make me a very happy chappy!

By the current nomenclature history, you'd be describing an HD-x50 ver. But who knows?

HDX50's lack the soundstage, dynamics, imaging and detail of the HD800 imo. I wouldn't want warmer omitting these things, rather adding to them. But I do see your point. I personally find the HD650 a bit too dark sided. Put it another way, the T1's with a wider soundstage and more low bass would also do the trick. There's a sweet balance somewhere that none of the top cans (haven't heard the 009's) have been able to crack. So close, yet so far!

You have the HE-500? How does it stack up to the K1000 and sextets? (I know, apple's and orange's, but who gets the listening time :) )
