New Sennheiser HD-700!!!!
Jan 6, 2012 at 8:09 PM Post #483 of 550
For ****** sakes... :p    Just after I got my HD650.  Better sell them fast while they still have some value, because as soon as HD700's get released, used HD650's will be 50% cheaper :p

But seriously now, if they look like one on those leaked pictures, then I love them.  Seems like they have angled drivers like HD800's too!
Honestly,  If they can combine the soundstage and precision of HD800 with sound signature of HD650's,  these will be winners. Latest audiophile headphones from Sennheiser (HD5xx series) really are great, heck,  HD598's would sound better than HD650's if they had slightly more bass, so I hope same trend of improvement will be seen in HD700's as well.   I just hope they wont be too expensive...but something tells me their price will be same as their model number, about 700 euros in europe, which would put them exactly between 800's and 650's.    But no big deal, I'll get them no matter what. :p

^ I wouldn't worry about it. The HD650 are great headphones that are better than 90% what they put out these days. You're probably gonna need to step up to the LCD2 to find something similar but better.

And no, the HD598 wont rival the HD650 with better bass. The only place I found them better was in the airiness and treble shimmer. Detail, Imaging, tonality, timbre, I still found the HD650 might superior.

You've heard the HD700s which Sennheiser has been so secretive about?

It's Sennhesier. They change the sound with every headphone. They wouldn't make a carbon copy.

He said completely different from HD 650's sound.  What would you speculate it to be like?

Probably completely different sounding. The HD700 would be like the HD800, a tad bit darker, but with the same great resolution and massive soundstage. Two things that are totally different from the HD650.

If it's technically comparable to the HD 800s (resolution, soundstage), then why would it be given a lower model number with a lower MSRP?  I don't think it's just the looks.

I don't know. We'll have to see what it's like when it's released.

Because it's a worse/not as good HD800?

Funny all the speculation that the HD700 will somehow be an HD900 for less.  That's what everyone is basically hypothesizing and it makes no sense at all.

I think most are hoping for a different voicing, something less treble happy like the HD 650. Even though it will still lose in a technical sense, many would find a HD 650 turbo version superior to the HD 800. Soon we´ll know :)

I think its funny on Sennheiser's facebook page that they ask for any techie predictions for CES and then delete my comment on the HD700! I was the first response but its gone now!

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, are these headphones real or not.
