Picked up a cable at Walmart while grabbing some groceries. Definitely noticed an improvement. Placebo? I don't know but vocals and highs are a tiny bit more clear to me. Very nice.

I don't know the resistance of this cable. How do I check?

so how is midrange compared to senn?

I find the HD600's to be very neutral and realistic sounding. The X1's are on par but are just shy of HD600 mid range clarity. The X1's seem to be ever so slightly dryer/recessed compared to the HD600. HD558's are overly forward for my taste and don't produce that raw tonality from vocals like the HD600's. HD598's sound like they have christmas stockings stuffed inside the ear cups.

I tested the 3ft flat Griffin cable which came out to 0.1-0.2 ohms. While the stock cable came out to 1.6-1.8 ohms. I wasn't expecting the Griffin to get so low considering I randomly just bought it... At Walmart. Amazon has the 6ft one for $10 IIRC. I wonder if it has the same impedance.

Really? Are You sure You measured correctly or Your multimeter battery isn`t empty or something? That is very low impedance.

All readings were showing up lower before I took pictures. I don't know why they did that. Also, I was getting 1.6-1.8 ohm on the original cable the first time around. Pictures show 2.1 ohms :\. The cable is supposed to be around 1.8 like others stated. So if that's the case, and it's showing more in my pictures but rather 1.8 like others mentioned before pictures, then maybe the Griffin cable is also lower then 0.4 ohms that's showing? The Griffin cable was also reading lower before pictures were taken.

I just got these bad boys and initial impressions are kind of mixed! I was pleasantly surprised that the bass is very nice and controlled, not bloated like I feared. The first moment I put them on, the reaction was very similar to the first time I put on HD650; dark, laid back sounding in a way. The one thing I do like in comparison to my DT880 is I can listen at decent volume now without the treble jumping in my face. Definitely more focus on bass, which was exactly what I was looking for.  However it doesn't quite seem on the overall level of refinement and fidelity of the 880's. That is not necessarily a bad thing for me though. Otherwise it's really hard to say how i like them. I need quite some time to adjust, that's for sure.

Change the cable for lower impedance OFC and use somekind of amp with max ~500mW output. Tube amp and tube buffered DAC preferred

What's a good basic tube Amp/Dac combo unit? I want to try tubes, that's the one thing I haven't tried, but I don't want to spend more than 150-200. I want something with a "tube" sound, not SS like everything else I own.

For tube amp - DV336SE seems to be good match by impressions found on internet. For amp/dac combo I would like to recommend Aune T1 BUT it really needs some modifications (capacitors) and great tube (probably expensive) to get great match with X1. I love my X1/T1/Siemens E88CC setup very much. Next step for me would be probably also DV336SE amp. T1 amp is SS and not so good without capacitor upgrade.

Cables do make a difference though. Not a huge difference, but some sound boomier and looser in the low end compared to others. My Ultrasone Pro 900 cable changes the sound a bit from the stock cable. Not huge differences, but it's there, no doubt.

Well, I do agree that the majority of cables sound very much the same. For some reason though, the Ultra-sone Pro 900 cable seems to sharpen the sound.

I don't know why this is the case, but it's what I hear. I have no incentive to lie about it. Believe what you'd like.
