You probably want to try out something from Audeze to start, and then maybe some electrostatic IEMs, such as the KSE1500.

Hi everyone,

New to the forum and new"ish" to the audiophile community. Background in chemical engineering and long time audio/music enjoyer.

This past few months I have been educating myself in the high end audio, got finally the financial freedom to pursue this hobby.

One of my biggest regrets was not going to sound engineering during my college years, this is something that I nam passionate about.

Going for sure to spend some time here!

First things you consider with headphones is what are you pairing it with, I mean your player, does it have a lot of power, is it a mobile DAP?
This will then bring you to efficiency DB/mW rating of the headphones, the higher this number and the lower the impedance in ohms they present to the amplifier the easier they are to drive. Then you start thinking of how you want your sound Planar magnetic and Electrostatics are very linear and clean giving you very low distortion, if you want a lot of bass impact with some coloration standard conical drivers will give you that, however to get cleaner sounding headphones like this you have to go very high in price.... check out headphones like Hifiman, foster
Good luck 👍
