Hello, everyone. I've loved music all of my 50+ years. There is nothing outside of drugs or alcohol that can alter your mood as you decide with music. I've had a nice stereo system for years. In November of 2020 I started to look for a replacement to my Sennheiser pc350's. I heard about the Drop HD58x's and the rabbit hole opened up. In this short amount of time, I have upgraded to the THX AAA 789 with the Grace balanced dac. I've added the HD660s and the Focal Elex. I'm not sure how deep this rabbit hole falls, but I need to at least find a ledge to take a break, my wallet is crying. Thanks for having me!
Hello,
I've purchased music CD's all of my adult life, and have a good collection of music. Audio equipment wasn't something I really explored though, it was just a means to an end. A friend helped me improve my audio gear about a year ago, and suggested I join head-fi. I didn't have anything to add to the community, so I wasn't motivated to join. There have been a couple times that I could have added to the conversation, so I figured it was time.

Hey!
I'm pretty new in the audiophile world and really enjoying it I'm also trying to get out of this hobby quickly as I see that it is affecting my wallet quiet heavily
I love a U-shaped sound signature and mostly listening to Hiphop, R&B, some EDM and Blues.

Hello to all! I am a returning 'newbie'. I have been a member of this forum since 2015 but have not posted much at all. I have learned a lot over that period of time however simply by reading posts and reviews. I am by no means a hifi expert, but I do share one thing in common with those who are - I love to listen to good music through high quality equipment.
I am back researching portable headphone amplifiers, and my first question is this - why buy a portable headphone amplifier with a DAC when my player already has an extremely high quality DAC?
Thanks to all and I look forward to being able to spend much more time here than I have in the past.
Regards,
Cal in Texas

I'm new here in the participatory sense; I've lurked for years.
I got into Head-fi/Hi-fi early (I was 8) when my father brought me to an audiophile brick and mortar that dealt primarily with tube amps. I thought it was the strangest most wonderful place on earth. I mean, from a kids perspective it was magic; the place looked like a scholarly alchemical labratory, glowed with warmth and wood grain throughout and hummed - and everyone was so knowledgable.
Since, I've gravitated more towards Head-fi as opposed to speakers as: Price, space, shared living arrangements, general covetous feelings over music/ not wanting to disturb anyone ect ect
Primarily I focused on IEMS but quickly moved up to full-size, with no regrets.
I like to mod, talk shop and find humour in discussing the subtleties of something that is nearly a wholly subjective experience, because - why not?

Hey everyone!
I'm mostly new to this world of high end audio, but this forum is helping me understand what a bad decision ($$$$) I made getting into this hobby. Just kidding!
Cheers,
TM

Hello everyone,
After having read a lot of stuff on here for the last couple of years, I finally decided to make an account so I could also post stuff in interesting threads.

New to the forum, nice to meet y'all. Been an avid "audiophile" for approximately 20 years, within budget of course.
