Hi everybody
I'm looking to buy my first quality set of headphones, i thought this would be a good place to start off.
I've come to realise through some online research, that headphones vary in sound quality more than i had previously thought.
I decided i wanted to hear the difference for myself. For years i've been used to listening to these headphones:

I think i'll notice a difference once i upgrade lol

Hello Audioholic123, welcome to Head-Fi. This certainly is a good place. Tell us what you are looking for (what kind of headphone, how and where you plan on using those and what kind of music you listen to) so that we can guide you in the right direction.

Thanks.

Hi all! I've been a voyeur on Head-Fi for... years! only just now thought it might be a good idea to get involved :-)

I pretty much work all the time (hospital lab) and so don't get much time to really tune in and listen. Usually it's a pair of portables and my Sony Z1 compact (hi-tech huh?). I used to prefer dedicated portable players but got sucked into the convenience of smart phones! Slowly dragging my way out!

Look forward to interacting with you all soon!

My equipment (past and present - some of it) -

- UE700 (man i miss them)
- Monster turbines (the silver ones?!)
- AKG K550
- AKG K323XS
- Creative Zen Vision:M
- Various Samsung mp3 players
- a couple of Sony mp3 players
- Cambridge Audio DAC magic XS
- (recently) RHA T20 (but I'll save my observations for another thread!)

Also my collection ranges from 320kbps - FLAC... Peace! Z

Hi
I'm looking to buy a pair of headphones to use at home. When i'm out i tend to use the earbuds (or IEM's) that come with my smartphone, so i'm content with those just now (plus i dont have much time to listen to my music when i'm out anyways)

.
I like all kinds of music though mostly listen to pop ( not today's pop records...all those auto tuned voices make them hard to like) amd also a little classical. I'd prefer a closed back headphone for more privacy too.
Thanks for all your help.

Hello everyone,

Long time lurker, finally registered. I bought a pair of Sony MDR-V6s after extensive research (much of which came from here) on headphones that both sounded great and wouldn't break easily.

Audio Technica ATH-M50X. Amazing sound, good comfort, great for home use and an excellent overall headphone. You can get one for less than $170. It's one of the best you can get for that price. People who have bought it have nothing but great things to say about it. Pretty portable too in case you want to take em outside.

Thank you indeed for your advice! chances are i will be more than happy with those given what i've been used to all these years...
I just needed someone with experience to clarify what would be a good choice,  so thank you.
