Has anyone tried it with the meze elite? I've never actually used a vacuum tube before. The green light, which some people negatively point out, is so pretty and lovely to me. Will try to own this in my future. :)

I wonder how my Solitaire P would sound with this?
Gorgeous. My first test of the MHA200 happened with a Solitaire P. Simply gorgeous. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I think just tube magic happened.

I have never had the chance to A/B the HA200 with MHA200. From memory, the HA200 are super fine tuned with the SoliP that results in a lifelike presentation, perfect for jazz and classical music. When I heard them first time, I thought, what else could be wished for? Now I think, perhaps, for tube magic.
It would be interesting to hear once a SoliP from HA200 as dac, MHA200 as amp.

Would like to here the Solitaire P with tubes. My HA200 is great with them of course, hugely detailed, great soundstage, although it is out of action due to a defect and I'm waiting to hear back from my dealer regarding replacement. Now I'm wondering if I should give the MHA200 a go. Just reports of the odd volume control is making me hesitate.

Do not hesitate. If it is just the volume control that holds you back, but having steady hands, go for it. Easy to get used to it. But, as always, personal experience is the best advisor.

The "wobbly" nature of the volume control is only noticed because the rest of the amp exudes tremendous amounts of quality and bulletproof construction...so it's only "cheap feeling" in relation to the rest of the amp, which is jewel-like.

Sound quality is evident if you read this thread - stunning, best in class.

Now the issue of not having enough "travel" in the volume knob (i.e. the useful range is probably between 11:00 and 2:00) is real...not an issue if you use the MHA-200 with a pre-amp, but it's real if you use it without a pre-amp. Strongly advise a demo before purchasing to see if this bugs you.

The volume do ramp up rather quickly after “noon”. I don’t mind it because it puts your headphones into hyperdrive mood and brings out the best in them while remaining composed doing so.

Find a local McIntosh dealer and take good look at one. We’ve sold just over 100 of them and we’ve had 3 come back. 2 because they didn’t like the volume control and 1 because the customer wanted a Woo WA33 instead. That makes about 97 happy MHA200 owners ….. pretty good ratio right?

Many of our MHA200 customers also own the Meze Elite. The general customer opinion is they make a great pairing.
