Whilst Im not the biggest fan of the Denon house sound, Ive always loved the looks of their cans. These newer models only improve on the already great looks, we will have to "see" how they sound though.

Well, hopefully the aluminium housing will improve the bass control, cause this is certainly issue in most of their phones.

The new Denon D1100 sounds very interesting, may be the headphone to purchase if it fixes the problems that so many people seem to have with the bass of the D2000. I still love my D1001 but kind of wanted to upgrade to better enclosed headphone so I'll have to see how head-fiers like the new D1100 and go from there. Happy Listening.

Hmmm.. Thats interesting. I always thought Denons (the 2000 and the 5000's) had a deep and nice bass.
Mind you, I have never listened to them myself but this is the impression I got about them after reading the reviews.
Boomy, muddy bass.

D2000 was my first headphone and at that time I thought it had great bass but now I use something that is far, far better. So beware who you trust. Best is probably to only trust in your very own hearing

Yeah, any headphone review is very subjective. Its a pity that where I stay, there are just 1-2 places in the entire country where I can audition headphones.
*looks at siggy* And considering you currently use a Stax Sigma, your comments are very much justified.

The Sigma bass is a bit boomy as well but the midrange is uncomparable to the Denons and the soundstage is huge (for headphones anyway).

I am going to cover these new phones in my annual IFA-report, of course.
And if you want to hear the new D1100 and NC800 yourself before launch, you are hereby invited to attend the European head-fi / Hifi-Forum meet in September in Berlin, because we are going to have these there!

I have the Denon AH-D501.
It's alright, it gets pretty warm after hours of listening..
I don't know how to say it.. but.. when i play alternatives/rock songs, the guitar sounds really high pitched.. pretty piercing in my opinion..
the bass is alright, the isolation is average..
