Got mine yesterday and loaded a bunch of music and sounded great. Unit got a bit warm but not too bad. I am having issues connecting to a wifi source and it could be me. My R6iii also has the same issues. I guess it does not like WPA2. Will try to change my router to see if that allows access.

Great sounding piece. Love the UI.

My quiet-therm-adc temps are staying under 33C so I think I am good on the heat issue.
I am a little confused with storage though. Once my micro sd is formatted my pc does not recognize it. That's fine, I will transfer via usb. I do this and it seems to put files internally, that's fine too. I'll just move them in the device. This doesn't seem to be an option. Tips? Tricks?

Sounds like an SD card issue. Your player should not be asking to format your SD card.

It asked to format it and then it gave me the option for using on only the phone(R4) and for transferring files back and forth. I am using a sandisk ultra plus 256gb
I would format it on the PC, add your files there, then use the Hiby app to scan for music… try another card if that fails

Quick impressions of the R4. Got mine last week and so far really enjoying it. This is my first DAP and it's meeting and exceeding my expectations so far.

Sonically, I think the soundstage is pretty good, not mind-blowing. Separation is quite good. Overall, the tonal balance is natural and uncolored. IEMs sound excellent on low gain, and full-sized headphones like the ZMF Bokeh and Hifiman HE1000 V2 sound sufficiently driven on medium gain. High gain, to me, sounds grainy even at lower volumes.

Zero issues with exFat formatted micro-SD card. Battery life is pretty decent, heavy listening sessions with hires files lasted me about 2 days. Playing DSD and FLAC files does get the unit pretty warm, but not to levels that I would consider alarming.

All in all, pretty great little DAP, and looks hella cyberpunk too.
