New headphone suggestions.

I'm in agreement with those who said the 840 has an overall better sound... but bass-lite (certainly in comparison to the M50). It also does have a slightly bigger soundstage, whereas the M50 are very close. The sound of the 840 is much more neutral than the M50

That said, they were too uncomfortable for me. Hurt my head. They are gone... unfortunately, because there was I lot I liked about them.

So it's between the M50 and SRH840, I guess.

Which has the larger soundstage? I assume the M50 would, but would that alone make it worth it over the SRH840?

From what I read, the SRH440 sounds livelier than the SRH840, which is definitely what I'd like. Should I go for them or stick to AD700s?

AD700 @ $90 for your xbox and the M50s for ~$100 for music. Or else HFI 780 for gaming and music for around $190 (may be better for music than the M50 though not as good for gaming as the AD700).

Bump, if anyone else has an opinion.

I'm actually looking for a new closed headphone for hip-hop/rap. I have the M50 now and it is a good phone but I keep feeling it lacks something. I dunno. I have looked at the D2000 and even the LA 2000 Lite shane55 is selling. Would the Ultrasones be better for hip-hop?

Ultrasone Pro 550,650, or 750. u will NOT be disappointed with electronic music. the 550 was one of my favorite headphones.  very cheap while having the most fun sound.

Quite out of my price range, but thanks for sharing.

The Pro 650 is currently around $150 new, due to the musician's friend clearance and everyone trying to dump theirs on ebay for a profit.

Yes the 650 was recently cleared for $99. The pro 550 also definItely can be had for less than $200 on ebay. I do not think the other choices given from other members match the pros with electronic music, not that they are suggesting worse headphones. If u hear it, u would immediately understand that pros are meant for electronic music. Tho they can be metalic sounding vs other brands in orchestral or accoustic music

I like electronic music, but it's not really dominant. My playlist is mostly indie/rock, so ehh.

I think it's between the SRH440, SRH840 and M50 in the end, so......

I'll pull the trigger when I can scrap up enough money.

Pulled the trigger on the ATH-M50s just now, arriving Wednesday.
