Currently studying MusicBee to try and sort through the gigantic mess that is my music "library" on my computer.
While browsing through the options of the embedded player, I stumbled over these options.

There's this curious option "Play some silence at startup for hardware synchronisation"...

Could it be, @FiiO , that the M11s has this feature "embedded" in some way?
Dear friend,

The M11S does not have that feature you mentioned. But maybe some third party app has this feature instead.

Best regards

Alright, I put some music onto my M11S.

I don't have a 1s skip, but the first time I open the player and select a song to play, I get a crackling sound, almost like when the Needle hits the vinyl.

Happens both with Musicolet as well as internal FiiO player.
But cannot be reproduced when jumping back and forth between songs or starting to play a new album. 🤔

It's almost as if the player switches something in the amplifier section.

small Edit:
in my frustration with MusicBee and its inability to simply tag my music, I decided to buy a Tidal subscription..

and, lo and behold, that initial crackle appears there as well. 🙄

Dear friend,
About the slight crackle that occurs occasionally during playback
Each time when the DAC chip change the sampling rates, it will need to reset itself, which can cause a slight crackle in the sound. This problem cannot be totally prevented, unless converting all the songs to the same format and sampling rates before playing them (just like what the Apple iTunes will do). But doing this will make the HiFi player lose its biggest advantage.
Best regards

Hi, is there already a fix for M11s when playing Tidal MQA songs? Seems like when we click to stream on MASTER quality on Tidal the MQA icon doesn't show up at the top, but streaming at 88.2K or some at 96K.

However, when you switch the same song to stream at HiFi quality on Tidal the MQA icon appears on the top but streaming at 44.1K

Is this normal? :worried:
Is the issue with M11s or Tidal app itself? This strange behavior is also the same when playing Tidal via USB Audio Player Pro (UAPP)

Any idea @FiiO

I was wondering what is the difference between the M11 Plus ESS or LDT compared with the M11s as I want the best sound quality, I purchased the M11S a couple of months ago and am looking to purchase the M11 plus but before I do was just wondering does the M11 plus sound better or are they the same, I don't want to spend quite a bit of money before knowing.

If you like you can read my comparison in the M11S review.

Thank you for that, will do, I appreciate it.
Aside from the higher power output, there probably isn't much of a difference to be expected.
(at least not anywhere near as much as what you get by changing placement of your cans on your head, or using different earpads, etc.)

I would save that money if I was you (but I am aware that I'm a minority on this forum :D )

I sent back my Fiio M11S because of this first second skipping with any music player.

I dared to buy a Fiio M11 Plus and... it is working just fine. The first second or so is still cut at the first reading, when you just opened Foobar or UAPP, but then it is working flawlessly.

With everything I've heard on the M11s compared to the M11 Plus ESS it's a step down in sound quality and that it's not a successor to it, more a successor to the original M11 released several years ago, it's probably not worth forking out more cash just to get more of a premium sound, I just wish I purchased the M11 Plus ESS version at first, I just haven't been really impressed with the sound quality using my Sennheiser HD 660s which I know it can power, it sounds kinda flat with no life to the music which sounds amazing on my PC with my sound card, even a YouTuber Z Reviews wasn't impressed with the sound.

Honestly, the M11 plus ESS will definitely not make enough of a difference.
Use an Equalizer or upgrade your headphones, if you aren't happy with the ones you have. (and computer audio sounding better than the dedicated DAP? that sounds fishy!)

DAC's at this level are not supposed to create audible differences, unless they are defective or terribly designed.
Spending another 300-400 bucks on the M11 Plus sounds like the worst solution here, since the difference will not be audible in a blind test, at all!

Anyways: I suspect that you're suffering from FOMO and convinced yourself that you're missing out on "better sound quality".
Don't waste your money on components that make the smallest difference in the chain!

My FiiO M11S doesn't have that strange issue that everyone here describes..
The "1st second cut at first reading", that's what they explained above. Apparently that's the DAC "switching".

But 1 second of a song missing?
Not on my player, as far as I can tell so far. (Sandisk Extreme Pro microSDHC 128GB card)

Apparently, the new version of the FiiO Music app (V3.1.7) has solved the problem of skipping the first second of the song. I will continue to test to see if it will stay that way.
