New FiiO M11S Player with dual ES9038Q2M DACs, 670mW output power and 14 hours of battery life

Hello,

I just got the M11S ON Friday - enjoying the sound paired with my Campire Emerald Sea Andromeda.

However - my device will NOT charge on a PC. It will recognize the device but the battery will drain even when it says it's charging.

When it is plugged into a separate charger (wall outlet, power bar) it does charge.

Is this normal?

what kind of USB outlet are you using on the PC?
If the connector doesn't provide high enough voltage, it's entirely possible that the device drains more power than the PC can supply.

(that's why certain USB-C ports are labeled as charging ports)

On a different note: I want to sell my barely used M11S (used it maybe 4 hours in total, looks brand new)
Where would you suggest I should try to sell it to minimise my losses?

Dear friend,

If the USB port of the PC is not providing high enough current, the M11S will still lose battery when charging by the PC.

Best regards

@FiiO , after the latest updates to Apple Music and Apple Music Classical, I noticed that songs no longer play in "Hi-Res Lossless", just "Lossless", even though the app says the album is in "Hi-Res Lossless" .

Dear friend,

Which music file did you try? And if you return to the Apple music in previous version, does the issue remain?

Best regards

@FiiO I tested several tracks by musicians who play Bach and Chopin. It's something general on Apple Music, it doesn't need to be something specific.

As for testing an earlier version, I haven't yet tested installing an Apple Music APK for this. However, I didn't want to have to resort to that to solve the problem. Furthermore, the modified Android promise of FiiO DAPs is interference-free playback when plugging a earphone directly into the device.

Dear friend,

Since you mentioned that the issue happens after the update of Apple music app, you could try to report to Apple music team or downgrade the Apple music app to check again. Is Apple music app change any design in the latest version? We did not do any changes for this certain app.

Best regards

For some other players (i.e. Shanling) the last version of Apple Music caused the app to stop functioning with the message that the app would not work on devices that had been rooted. "Maybe" this change in the app causes issues with the quality of playback on Fiio devices. I know that the issue required an update to the firmware to be fixed on Shanling devices... I think that Fiio should test this on their test devices and verify rather than force us to do work around installs of older app versions.

@FiiO , as the friend said, other DAP manufacturers had problems with the latest Apple Music updates, requiring them to release a new firmware update for their Digital Audio Players (Hiby and Shaling had to do this as far as I know).

Do keep in mind that Apple doesn't really care/focus on DAP manufacturers - they focus on the 99% of the devices that are iOS devices and Android phones... I think it would be a safe bet to say that Apple will not be rushing a fix for this in the near future and "maybe" the next app update will resolve it (or further impair functionality).

Dear friends,
We failed to reproduce the problem you mentioned:

And how dod you judge that the music is lossless one instead of hires lossless?

Best regards

@FiiO, I just discovered a peculiar behavior in Apple Music. If I download songs from an album that is available in "Hi-Res Lossless", playback will occur as it should and the files will play in "Hi-Res Lossless". Only when I don't download it does that same album play in "Lossless".

sounds like a non-issue to me..

Unless you're falling for the stupid "hi-res" sticker scam...

If a song is played lossless, it's literally played back without any loss of quality, no matter if it was stored as a 16bit or 24 bit or 32bit file.

"Hi-Res" is just marketing BS that means less than nothing.

And that's completely ignoring that nobody can hear anything beyond 16bit anyways!

That's not the point. I don't care about the resolution itself. I just want them to deliver what was promised... Don't confuse things.
