New custom IEM company - Custom Art: discussion, review, and impressions thread

Hi

Well after trying them (I'm leaving sound and long term comfort till tomorrow)for a brief spell they seem ok.  One thing does puzzle me (and I suspect it's my ears more than anything) is that the right sits flush to the ear as expected.  The left whilst it seals (I can open and close my mouth without the seal breaking) seems to be more at an angle.  The reason I said I suspect my ears more than anything is that I had the exact same result from another company when I sent my other pair for one of their models (acrylic instead of silicone).  Again it doesn't seem to affect fit or comfort, it just looks a little odd.  I'll take a couple of pics later on to illustrate.  Also there seemed to be a bit of an 'oily' smell from the well smell of it.

Thanks

Please check if you are pushing IEM into your ear entirely, it seems like your cymba (the part with serial number) is not popping into its place.
I don't know how smell can be "oily", but please know that we lacquer our monitors and that smell could be it. Give them 2 days and it will evaporate.

Thanks! The smell is already fading :P

Well I'm selling my H8P, mainly because I don't get the chance to use them much. At home I prefer listening to my stereo system, and for portable use I prefer taking small iems like RE-600, so I can take them in and out of my ears quickly and just stick them in my pant pocket when not in use, and I can't do these things with a ciem, so this will be my first and last ciem lol. Let me know if you want my H8P's.

Ok guys I need some advice for H8p vs H8.

My favorite genres are metal, alternative, indie, and all forms of EDM. My favorite artists are Erra, Animal as Leaders, Foster the People, Coldplay, Kill the Noise, and Skrillex.

Would the H8p or H8 be better for me?

What source do you use? If you like a bit prominent treble then go with H8P. Although prominent treble, H8P is very controlled on entire spectrum. If you want some kind of more relaxed sound go with H8. Have you asked Peter for this?

I'll be using the DX90 for portable or the Schiit Lyr/ODAC for desktop. I think because I listen to a lot of EDM and electronica, I would prefer bass over prominent treble. I haven't asked Peter directly, but I would like his opinion if he sees my post.

I think that low frequency response is same in both earphone. I enjoy Daft Punk (the only artist that I listen as electronic music) with H8P. I have not heard Lyr, but H8 may be good with Dx90. Do you find dx90 a bit bright?

The choice depends on your sound signature preference. Peter would give the best answer to your question. H8P sounds good with all kind of music.

I did not listen to non-pro. But, according to Peter it has more relaxed sound and the focus is more on lows and low mids. Both pro and non-pro version have identical FR response up to approx 5kHz, but I assume that due to treble lift in pro version the focus of both CIEMs is different.
What sound do you like? If you don't like prominent treble, brightish CIEMs pro version is not for you. Pro version has great bass, clear mids and very spacious sound but the quantity of treble may kill you.
In contradiction what I hear from people I don't think that pro version is very suitable for metal, rock genres. On one hand it is suitable due to its aggressive sound and dynamics, but I often find not so good treble mixing/mastering/quality in metal, rock songs and thus treble part of rock, metal songs may take away all the listening pleasure.

I see everything :D

Well it's just as fellow headfiers said, it all boils down to your preference for treble quantity.
I personally listen to a lot of alternative, metalcore, post-hardcore etc a lot of female vocals and occasionally some electronica (Pendulum, Srillex) and I like my trebles H8P-style.

Do you have any favorite earphone or headphone? F.e. if you like shure sound go with 8 (non-pro) if you like JH or UM sound go with 8 Pro.

H8P will be better for such genres and to those bands for me, because have a lot highs and more agressive. H8 non-pro are relaxing, more suited to a slow electronic and hip-hop.
