New Beyerdynamic T5p 2nd generation

I've been running mine with a Hiby R5, picked one up when they were on sale recently for $299. The R5 is ~warm neutral, sounds good with the T5p.2 - for the money I'm quite happy with the R5 for portable (sounds good with the FAD Pandora Hope VI too). Can imagine that the M11 Pro, which I'm broadly seeing described as ~cold, slightly bright neutral may not be best here.

So it depends on which source it's used. I'm very pleased with my T5p.2. It's very neutral and treble is bright indeed but very smooth and relaxed. I once tried the T5p with my old original phat Nintendo DS for the giggles and I was blown away.

I am now using my T5P Gen 2’s with my Chord Hugo 2 after upgrading from a Chord Mojo.
They sound great.

To be able to enjoy long listening sessions with this headphone I find that I must employ a bit of EQ, depending on the amp.

I take my Loki, add some bass, a touch of midrange and peel back some treble. Then I can go for hours.
Do you know what combo equals? The Focal Elex. I just got my Elex's and LOVE them. To me, they sound like my T5p.2's EQ'd.

Does anyone know if Denon D7200 earpads will work on T5p.2?

The T5p is a very good headphone and I don't see any reason why it shouldn't.

Would you guys consider the T5p signature brighter or less bright than the brother T1 2nd gen (which I own)? Or is it merely just an easier-to-drive version of that? I also notice the T5p AK which is more expensive. Are there any differences between these two sonically?

I havent tried the T1 2nd, but the T5p and T1 is totally difference (closed back/ 32 ohm vs semi open/600ohm). The best thing of T5P 2nd that I like are the mid and clarity sound (not the treble and bass, you wont hear the sub bass when paring with bright source ).

The AK version is more expensive because of the "AK" logo, better cable and more bass. AKT5P is easier to listen to.

I have had the T5p 2nd gen for quite a while now for my work setup and whilst I don't have the T1 to compare it is definitely brighter that my Empyreans and VC if that helps. I wouldn't say they ever get harsh though and still have a decent kick in the bass region, this is with a Lyr 3 using Foton 1953 ribbed tubes.

Thank you! I managed to try both the normal T5p and AK today for about 45 minutes. And man I realize "warmer" and/or "brighter" is really relative and subjective. In my case, I am so used to the Beyer T1 2nd gen and Focal Elegia that I can consider T5p to be a little on a warmer side relative to that. It's a very different headphone, which helps justify my potential purchase. The bass is really just enough for me. I am a fan of the Beyer house sound so I was happy to hear the T5p. Easy decision!

One thing about the AK version though: didn't like that at all. The clarity is so badly mangled and then the muddiness overall. So glad I auditioned both!

I own the T5p.2 and I love it. It has the most relax bright treble ever aside Meze 99 Classics. All details are there without any fatigue or sibilance. Bass is on the right level, not too overwhelming and not underwhelming. It's very subjective indeed so now that you are happy to hear the T5p, get it!

I don't understand why the AK version. It's way too overpriced to justify it too. But the clarity being so mangled and muddiness overall? Nope, not for me.

To me the AK version seems to be tuned to be a definite easy-listening experience. More fitting for modern mainstream music. Very boomy at the expense of resolution. I do like the beautifully braided balance cable, leading me to think possibly the extra costs went to cable making. But I will customize one anyway since I am pairing the T5p with my Kann Cube.
