Did you do this comparison test completely 'blind'? If not, then I think Expectation Bias is probably at play...

How many people will have to tell you that the Black are darker then Silver T1.2 before you will stop with your unsupported none-sense?

Have you heard them both? I did. I had them both as did the other guy and few others and somehow we all came to same conclusion?

But you know better without even hearing them both... or am I wrong?

Good luck

I’d like to see the results of a double-blind study, with at least a hundred participants.
Without that, you’re talking complete codswallop.

Haha, that is so funny. You must have very difficult life if you expect 100 people to help you with making a simple judgment.

So lame.

After reading that a few folks here found the T1.2 black edition to sound even darker than the DT1990, I decided to order a pair. Out of the box they did indeed sound dark and laid back however, after 50 hours of continuous burn in, the T1 only revealed it's strengths when fed by well recorded source material and the right amplification. Offering up anything less of either, and portions of their upper frequency response quickly become fatiguing. Even though the T1 does have better sound staging and is able to deliver a bit more detail and space between the instruments, the DT1990 overall is more full sounding across the spectrum and is a more 'fun' listen, with noticeably less bite to the 's' on vocals than the T1. Though I will say that the mid range is conveyed beautifully on the T1, smooth, lush and detailed. Although both of these headphones are considered analytical, the DT1990 and 1770 are less in this respect than the T1. With the Amiron being the most polite of all current higher end Beyer models.

Like the DT880 600ohm, The T1 appears to be very amplifier dependent. It was a terrible pairing with my Violectric V200, which caused the sound to become surprisingly thin and strident. I had high hopes for this combination since it is a great match with the DT1990. The dedicated headphone section on my Marantz PM6005 integrated proved a much more musical presentation. The best pairing for both models however, is through my transformer coupled Analog Design Labs Svetlana tube amp.

IMO the DT1990 still delivers 90-95% of what the T1 does best, while having a bit more weight throughout the bass region overall. So unless sound stage and the last bit of mid range purity is high on your sonic requirements, at over twice the retail price of the DT1990 I find it hard to justify the outlay. Even though I picked this T1 up at 50% off, it is going back to Amazon next week.

I couldn't agree more. I think the 1990 is the (often-overlooked) star of the Beyer line-up. OK, it can't do everything the T1.2 can do, but it's a far, far better all-rounder IMO.
The 1990 is my 'go-to' set of cans that I use most often. The rest get a look-in occasionally, but if I was forced to keep just one set of cans, the 1990's would be first in line.

I DON'T NEED to make a 'simple judgement'.
I'm just asking for a little more objectivity amongst the tirade of bull that circulates in these parts... :o2smile:

I just think you don't want to admit that the black version could be different compared to the silver version. My roommate said that too that this difference actually exist and it is very noticeable…

If you life in Berlin you can test this in my place – before I sent the silver one back in two days…

I don't want to, or need to 'admit' anything whatsoever?? Other than I nicked a bag of sweets from the corner-shop when I was eight...?? lol

I just observed that the T1.2 headband starts to have problem. Headphones are only 2 years and 1 month old, but I might say are medium-heavy used (3-4hrs/day).
So the artificial leather band is not indestructible. I googled and found that the "original" replacement is somewhere at 350 EUR! Woot?
Of course I am not willing to pay that and I do not need to yet, but just as an idea.

I have a similar problem with the Amiron, even though the headbands are different material. The replacement cost is ridiculous. When my headband cushions get too bad, I just plan to cut them off and replace them with snap-on pro cushions.
