Anyhooooo, I have diched my external headphone amps for a few days to see what the M-Dac's headphone amp section is capable of. I am amazed by the M-Dac in every sense.....

Feeding via RCA output to HifiMan EF-5 (capable of driving almost any phone) - Great with my HE-6 and LCD-2

Feeding via balanced XLR's>Hirose into iBasso PB-2 - Great with ES5's and LCD-2

On board Headphone amp - Great synergy with LCD-2!!

All of the above is based upon ipod classic (Lossless) > CLAS > M-Dac

With the exception of the LCD-2 the M-Dac is the best money I spent in 2011!

Spud. May I know if you can hear any difference between the digital out of the SBT and that of the CLAS? Thanks!

Goodness, just chanced upon this thread. M-DAC is definitely worth looking at besides the Rein Audio X-DAC that I've short listed as well.

Is the M-DAC also an amp?

Hi guys. I am prob the last person who can give a proper review on a DAC because I've never owned a dedicated DAC before. Compared to my IPod-CLAS-SR71B setup, my PC-MDAC-SR71B setup is really leagues ahead. On top of a flood of details, the soundstage is so much wider and precise.

And I can very confidently say that the bass reaches significantly deeper. My main complaint on my portable setup running the LCD2r2 is the slightly thin and bright reproduction. The MDAC definitely injects a fuller and meatier sound. Is the technical term for that called mid bass? If it is, it definitely isn't accompanied by any bloat. Did I mention the deeper bass? Haha, that really impressed me and made my day.

After i picked up the MDAC, the plan was to setup the unit and let it run in for 2 days before any proper listening but I've not been able to tear myself away from listening to it since 3 hours ago.

Are you just using the Headphone Amp of the M-Dac or external amp? I've just been using the M-Dacs amp for a few days now and am really impressed. Thinking of sheading some external amps now as they seem redundant with such a brilliant one built in. Neater too of course as no extra cables/wires.

Anyway, enjoy!

If you want a set in Singapore, do it fast, not much unit left.

Agree.... I can ditch my maverick audio D1 for sure, and Shiit lyr is in great danger, lol....

There are so much space and Air between each instruments!

Does it have dual DAC chips for truly balanced XLR output? I've been waiting for the DacMagic Plus, but looks like I'm going to get this one instead :)
