New Audeze "Prototype-Z"!

Looks like 4th harmonic is slightly greater than 2nd according to Tyll's tone test with 500Hz.  What I'm curious about is why the HE-6 is so in-efficient.  I would bet on the strength of the magnets that is requiring more power to the diaphragm for ease of movement in the magnetic field.

I sure hope Audeze is reading and watching this forum. I am new around here and went to the RMAF three weeks ago. I fell in love with the Audeze XC. I like them so much that I will most likely get one. But what would make me a true believer in the company is if they would listen to the highly qualified people on this forum. The biggest complaint I have with these HP's is the weight. I have had 3 surgeries on my neck and adding 650 extra grams would not be great.

Please Audeze and make this a little lighter. Please.

Thanks, we are and paying close attention. We're always trying to making the listening experience more alive -and- more comfortable. We hear you... thanks.
Audeze

How can you reduce weight and not sacrifice sound? Magnets, housing, and a stiff chassis to reduce resonance cannot be compromised. Are we audiophiles, or casual listeners with expensive tastes? What is the target of Audeze?

Thanks, that's perfectly true. But all we can say for now is... Audeze is addressing that very issue.

Dear Audeze, please please please don't use LCD in the naming of this project if it comes to fruition just because I know it'll drive at least someone nuts in doing so. And that'll make me smile.

Audeze <3

If there's a company out here, other than Auralic, who really gets the job done on customer satisfaction/service would be Audeze :)

btw, Audeze, there are a lot of audiophiles who like sets from the same company, as in, like Stax does their electrostatic and have their own amplifiers that are supposedly optimized for their own headphones, so should you, I'm fairly sure you'll get bigger drive into the mainstream market.

Still, very interested in the Z or at least an LCD-4 finally.

And about weight, I'm using the LCD-3, while it certainly is not a light headphone, the weight distribution is amazing, I'm not sure which headphone is more comfortable, the HD700 or the LCD-3 :)

Heh, I wouldn't use Stax amps as a point of comparison... the branded amps usually come in dead last in electrostatic shoot-outs. I have never heard of an 009 owner rolling with a Stax amp... it's always BHSE, or Woo, and so on... I would hope Audeze could do a better job with their own amps. Which I think would require bringing in outside expertise, since headphone designers are not amp designers. (Another example... the poorly-thought-of HiFiMan amps.)
