Personally I've been put off by the way Audeze communicates with its customer base and have decided not to buy another Audeze product.  Flame me if you will, tell me about other companies and their policies if you want, but no more Audeze products for me.

Your money man..do what you please.

Hoping Ken gets the LCD_3 in the ALO store here soon!!

Care to elaborate, WA? Is it that the LCD-3 "suddenly" pops-up a few months after the LCD-2 rev.2? If a rev. 3 came along to the same price just now; I would agree. But a headphone 2x the price and still offering the LCD-2 - I can't see the "problem".

What way do they communicate with the customer base? And what is wrong with that? (Apologies if you just wrote that, this thread grows with exponential speed.)
(Personally, I've had very good experiences of the communications I've had with them, but I suppose that doesnt count since it didnt involve the whole customer base.)

Could you clarify? Not trying to flame or anything.

Here's a new pic of the LCD-3, the Reality-1 and Ether-1 speakers, and the Spitfire microphone:

It looks like the original foam headband (my favorite, although the leather one is fine also) is not available for the LCD3. I wish it was.
Just to chime in, I think Audeze comfort is fine. I feel something substantial on my ears, but it feels pretty good.
I hated the Senn 600 iron grip & never got used to it. I also never liked the Stax Omega 1 earcups, as they clipped my ears and had inadequate (too thin) padding.
I think the Audeze is MUCH more comfortable than these (and the sound is much better to me also; way better in fact, but that's another story...).

I got the wooden case.  Much sexier, and I won't be carrying my LCD-2s around much any time soon.

Ditto.

Would be nice to see the 3 in a zebra wood case to match the phones.

I hadn't thought about the option. I would prefer the foam by far to the leather covered headband.

I'll let WA answer for himself although I think I know his answer. He has posted many times about being unable to take them off!

For myself, having been a "speaker audiophile" since 1985, I didn't become a committed headphone listener until the LCD2 appeared. The LCD2 was my epiphany. I must stress I had not heard many headphones before this - Jecklin Float (audition), Stax LambdaPro (owner), Grado SR60 (owner), Grado RS1 (owner), my son's HD5xx Sennheiser. Others will have had their epiphany with some other 'phone entirely.

Is the LCD2 better than my speaker system? It is not. It's different; and also alike in many ways. I am completely happy to listen for hours to either system, and I feel absolutely no sense of "missing" anything whichever one I choose.

Make sure you guys open a bottle of this year's release:

...while enjoying your LCD-3s next month :)

Can't wait to read some impressions from the new owners!  I have a rev. 1 LCD-2 that I purchased about a month before the rev. 2 came out and I am still so happy with it.  I've taken it with me across the U.S. and even to the Caribbean (the travel case is amazing).  Although I can't afford an LCD-3 right now I would love to hear how they could possibly improve on an already close-to-perfect product.

I expect he means the manner of the LCD-3 release so soon after the rev.2 with so little warning.  Personally I hate these kind of releases also, really lame and stupid way to release products which contributes little to the appeal (apple is even worse here, love the product ideas, hate the business lol.)  I personally may have still bought the rev.2, but I may also not have, who knows.

What do you think they owe you as far as communication goes, and what manufacturer can you point to that does a better job in this respect?

These are two completely different headphones at two entirely different price points and have nothing to do with each other aside from looks.
