I'm also among the first to have ordered on 1st of July but I got no email nor does it show my item as shipped on Head-Direct. This sucks. I don't live in the US like you guys but that shouldn't mean anything as they ship from China. I hate this kind of inconsistencies.

Planar headphones will, by virtue of the design, have a different voicing than dynamic hp's. Most people will tend to prefer one over the other. I'm more of a planar guy for most music. 
 
I'll be hoping that the sub bass will still be present that was found on the original he400. There was some real magic there. Hopefully I'll find out tomorrow

Will someone kindly compare these with the Senn HD600s when they get them? I consider the HD600 to be pretty much the benchmark top-performing headphone of this price segment so it will be interesting to see how a planar and dynamic square off in the same price bracket.

  Just an aside, I just got my HiFiMAN carrying case and I highly recommend it. Excellent build quality and I have had my share of crappy ones. They will protect my HE-400S real nicely.

DHL requires a sig for International Express Mail, but you can go online and sign for the package so they can leave it!  I have done that in the past!

I have made some adapters, 2.5mm to mini xlr, direct solder connection!  I like my Q Cable best with all of my Hifiman's, but I will try my Silver Peptide and Fusion by DHC!

I am looking for a possible second set of cables for my HE-400S because the 90 connector they come with is problematic for me. I was hoping for a suggestion for a less expensive option. Any ideas? I mean sub $100 for sure. I really do not even know the correct nomenclature for this type of cable, TRS plugs on the HP end, etc. Any insight would be greatly appreciated by me. TIA

I'm actually thinking about the balanced Oppo cable. I've used it before and I liked it a lot. Just a bit spendy but if the 400s proves to be the bees knees I will probably get that cable.
