Refreshing this page with a vengeance...if these are planar replacements for the HE400 I am super intrigued and they could be my next buy.....if the fix the recessed mids issue then it goes from could to definitely.

Visited the SIEVEKING booth today at the Munich High End show and when I wanted to plug in the HE-400i the girl at the booth gave me the HE-400S and for quite a few seconds I was stunned and surprised. A what? What am I looking at here? Did I miss something? I should have known about this, reading Head-fi here and there. No?

Yes, HE-400S. Ran very well from my Iphone 6 and sounded good for meet conditions (more lively than the He-400i, could punch and kick with Digweed) but being open it's no contender for a mobile phone. Hats off to Hifiman though for making such a headphone sing with a mobile. I'll keep an eye out for the closed version.

I also got that email from HFM this morning, and it now links directly to this very thread on head-fi. Interesting marketing choice, although it seems like it should go to a proper landing page with actual info lol.
