NEVERMIND THE PLANARS HERES THE AKG'S!

Supposedly planars are known for their staging depth in general, and I'd agree with that, he400 isn't very wide-- maybe about same as hd650, but it does seem very deep at times when a song has many layers to it. I wouldn't call mine in head at all-- that's m50 territory.

I jumped on the planar craze, Fostex t50rp, then Hifiman he400, and finally the Yamaha hp2. Planars are great! However currently I haven't heard one that holds against my AKGs, I wish AKG would build a planar headphone, I think the planar technology is a excellent idea, and in the hands of AKG....... But there maybe a reason why they don't.

I've dredged this thread back up from its slumbering sleep in the vaults of head-fi for a reason.

I'm back with my beloved K702's. And guess what?? They sound better now than ever!! (China made) Only the HD800 out of my headphone stable have been a better headphone for what I want. But there isn't much in it I promise you.

I paid, £108 for the k702... I paid £1000 for the hd800.
