Neumann NDH 20

I don't know how these are not more popular, they are the most natural soundings closed backs I've ever heard.

The smooth base shelf adds enough warmth on the tilt of nutural to make voices and instruments sound extremely similar to if someone was speaking or playing in the room with you. For my preference, most nutural FR are just slightly to bright and dry to sound life like.

If I did have a criticism to put forth, it would be a slight dryness and grain to the treble. Those of you familiar with Sennheiser headphones in the early '90's will know what I mean. But that midrange more than makes up for this.

Just received them. They sound great, but I need more time.

But I do wonder why there is barely any cushioning on the headband, especially in the middle. This is a decision that baffles me. Since the Sennheiser HD 630VB does have more cushioning it looks like an engineering choice that is well thought out. But by who? Someone with a lot of hair?

I've contacted support in the Netherlands if they know anything about this... or if they have a solution... seems like there are 4 screws and it can be replaced. Why doesn't Neumann offer some extra cushioning set, wouldn't that be a good idea? Any other solutions that don't look horrible?

Can anyone tell help me with what Torx sizes I need for this headphone?

Sennheiser support told me over the phone below sizes, but I don't understand these, and where do you need the 7 mm? From the outside I see only very small Torx screws.
  • Torx 4 - 3 mm ----> My confusion: What is 3 mm? The screw holes width looks smaller than 3 mm to me. Is this simply Torx T4?
  • Torx 4 - 7 mm ----> My confusion: When I google I don't see variation in sizes for Torx T4, so I don't understand how T4 can be 3 mm and 7 mm. Is this simply Torx T7?

Screw length.

So how is screw length important for knowing what screwdriver I need lol. Why did this guy tell me this. So all I need is Torx T4?
Sounds like it.

It sounds like you need a Torx 4 screw driver for all 4 screws, 2 of which are 3 mm long and the other two are 7 mm long. Sometimes the Torx screws are wrecked when you unscrew them, so perhaps they are warning you to buy some more as they don't come with whatever you are buying.

Ah, the screws in the headphone have a high chance of being wrecked, probably a way to see if someone took it apart. Thanks for this warning.

Btw, I love the sound sof this headphone for just music listening, funny that this topic is so dead?
