I'll say this, I go for walks with my ATH-A700s and I get stopped by a lot of people, so, if you don't mind people asking about them, they're fine as portables. Sound wise, they are VERY spacious, there is not a lot of bass, it's refined and quick, and the highs are a tad bright when you turn up the volume.

How long is the wire?

The cable is 3 meters, or a little less than 10 feet. Pretty long.

How do you even bring that outside. Doesn't it get hassling taking care of all that wire?

you wrap half the wire up, and velcro it. 
if your music player goes in your pocket, so does the wrapped bundle of wire.

Just imagine a pair of headphones on one end and velcro replacing the twist tie and you've got it. Just adjust to any length you want and enjoy!

Pretty much anywhere I believe. Walmart, Staples, Home Depot, or online. They should run something like $5-10 for a pack.
