Mytek Brooklyn Thread

That’s giving it away at only around 57% of retail. If you need a quick sale, it is what it is. Someone will get a deal and you get the cash. Hope everything works out for you.
i am well aware it's a great deal.

I’m putting together a new HiFi and had actually settled on the Qutest, a Croft pre/power combo, and the Stream Box S2 Ultra. But now I see the new Brooklyn Bridge! Has anyone heard it yet and tried the OS for TIDAL? I’m very interested in fewer boxes, and the Bridge with either headphones or a pair of active monitors is a minimalist’s dream.

Any impressions would be appreciated.

Thank you

The headphone amp on my Brooklyn DAC+ was meh, about as good as a Magni 3 (but not as good as a Vali 2) so I doubt the one on the streamer will be any better. I bought a separate headphone amp and do not use speakers. Because the sound quality of my Brooklyn DAC+ was not equal on all inputs I sold it and bought a Yggdrasil. At that price point I wish I had bought the Yggy to begin with. Resale price on the Mytek gear is not as good as Schiit and Yggdrasil is upgradeable with new boards and Brooklyn is not. If you read the thread many Brooklyn users wind up buying a USB to S/PDIF converter and an outboard LPS to better SQ. As long as your minimalist dream is not extremely good sound quality try the Brooklyn Bridge. I bet you will be buying more boxes like an outboard LPS and Schiit Eitr within a few months though. Don't impulse buy, do your research first. Also consider buying from a dealer where you can return if not satisfied.

Thanks. I know the sound of the Brooklyn DAC but not the plus. I like it. The convinience of a single box goes a long way for me. The headphone output is very nice to have, but my main use will be as preamp.

I would like to hear from someone who has heard and uden the implementation of the streaming board on the Brooklyn Bridge

Thanks

You will have to wait until Brooklyn Bridge ships later this month or February. Doesn't look like any reviewers have even been loaned one for review yet. Still pre-orders only.

not to bash Mytek, but as of the last few years they have been stretched thin. I own a B+ and still enjoy listening to it anchoring my near field rig in my office.

Between new product launches, the failure of Clef to materialize and a bunch of firmware updates of varied quality. don't be surprised if BB slow walks to market (then again I could be wrong)

I enjoyed the bk + but mytek has very poor resale value and I took a massive hit.

Idk, You could’ve probably gotten quite a bit more. You basically gave away the Sbooster for free, with a low price for the DAC+ to boot. You priced it as such though, for quick sale I assume.

Buyers for $2k+ DACs aren’t exactly as common as for $200 DACs or more hyped similarly expensive DACs.

my dealer offered me 1k for both items, i felt like 1500$ was the most i could reasonably expect to get. it took me almost 1 month to get what i got.

The dealer was low balling you. Extremely so. You don’t have to let a low ball offer set the reasonable sale price. I’m sure you could have gotten at least $200 for the Sbooster, maybe a little more, and probably $1600+ (Maybe 1500 is more realistic) for the DAC since they go for around $1980 from a dealer in used condition.

There is a non + listed on audiogon without LPSU for almost $1500.edit. Ah it comes with a small iFi psu.

It is what it is now that it’s done, but that shouldn’t impact every seller due to this notion based on a dealer’s extremely low offer or with requirement of getting some quick cash for another need.
