MYSPHERE 3.1-UNIQUE in SOUND&DESIGN&BUILD QUALITY

I have just received something interesting from @Uncle Wilson from Jaben SG: the Onix Miracle. I am testing it out as a bedside setup. It is very nice with the MS 3.2. Fitting since Jaben SG was from whom I picked up my MS 3.1 and 3.2. :)

If anyone is selling their bass frame cushion for the Mysphere 3.2 and live in the US, PM me as I am interested in buying one.
Just picked up a set of 3.1‘s and looking at cable and pad options. Did you end up getting either the bass or transparent frames? If so where did you get them and do you think they are worth it?

did you get an aftermarket Cable and if so which one?

I got the bass frames, bought it full price from this website https://highend-electronics.com/products/mysphere-3-sound-frame-cushion

I think it was a little too pricey than what I would like to pay for, but it did have noticeable improvement for more emphasis on the bass, especially if you like punchy midbass. It won’t help with subbass if that is what you are looking for. I say it’s worth it if you have the frames closed in when you use the Mysphere. If you have the frames fully out all the time when using the Mysphere, it’s not really worth it as it’s pretty much the same as the standard frames.

For me, I like to say I wear my Mysphere similar to how I wear the Sony MA900. Where the drivers is fairly close to my ear, but the drivers are still angle out where my ears are barely not touching the drivers. There is a little crack at the back to let my ears breathe, so I get the benefit of the bass frames while having a nice open soundstage.

Mysphere 3.2 are I believe TRRS balance which are the exact same as my Onkyo A800. So I use my Onkyo A800 ribbon cable for both of them.

Man, I feel like the Mysphere 3.2 don’t really get too much love it deserves. This is currently my favorite headphone at this time and the best headphone I ever heard for vocals. The clean and transparent mids that this headphone is capable of is insane.

My adventure started last year at CanJam Chicago when someone was nice enough to let people use their Mysphere 3.2 on the Viva 845 tube amp. I only listen to 1 track which was Beethoven Pastoral Movement III and I was instantly sold and determine to obtain a Mysphere 3.2 right after CanJam.

Keep in mind that this was an open back headphone with zero isolation and I also got the opportunity to try other TOTL headphones as well. Out of all of them, the only 2 TOTL headphone that stood out to me was the Mysphere 3.2 and the Susvara which I also really enjoy but I had to recently sell it to upgrade my speaker setup.

Fast forward almost 1 year later… the Mysphere 3.2 is the first headphone I reach for if I am in the mood to listen to my headphone setup. It’s just a combination of its transparent mids, open sound presentation, its wide and spacious soundstage, and to top it all of being the most organic sounding headphone for vocals to me. I owned the Mysphere 3.2 for about 10 months now and I enjoy making little changes and tube rolling to elevate the Mysphere 3.2 sound. Hearing the Mysphere 3.2 clarity becoming more and more transparent made it worth making those changes in my system.

I gotten to a point where I am just in awe in listening to the Mysphere 3.2 in my setup. I am using the Mysphere 3.2 with the:

Supratek Cabernet DHT Custom 45/6SN7 Preamp [(2) RCA Radiotron UX-245 Tube, (2) Melz 1578 Tube, (2) RCA 6L6GC Tube, and (1) RCA 5U4G Tube] + Allnic HPA 5000XL amp.

This preamp + amp pairing with the Mysphere 3.2 is just so amazing right now. The only thing I have left to at least for tube rolling the Supratek is to change the rectifier tube to pair well with the current tube set.

I just wanted to show some love to the Mypshere 3.2 because I really think this headphone is criminally underrated and hope that more people try them out. Happy listening everyone!

The Mysphere 3.2 is wonderful. I use the B (for Bass) pads AND Oratory1990's EQ and they are so far unbeatable. The complete lack of sibilance in vocals is very unusual and lifelike. I run mine with either the Merging Anubis and EQ or the Fidelice preamp/DAC/Headphone amp. It really is a triumph of technology. AKG sure had a wealth of talent!!!

Well worth the investment. Someone on here was selling theirs a while back.

Haa well as much as I love my Ca1a it was between getting rid of them or Susvara in order to try something new that I've never experienced before in 3.2, so Ca1a had to take one for the team, I'll probably rebuy as it is fantastic, but for some reason it just didn't get the head time it deserved

Congrats! I recommend you read this article while you wait for your new Mysphere 3.2. It’s my favorite review and it goes into detail to give you a good idea on pairing the Mysphere 3.2.

https://www.sonusapparatus.com/2022/01/mysphere-3-1-3-2-impressions/
What an excellent article by sonusapparatus.

One thing I don't have time to research, but am curious about. The reviewer tried the 3.1 version and 3.2 version with several amplifiers, and gave his opinion as to which version of the MySphere sounded best with each amp. A few years ago (before Covid), Heinz gave a list of the amplifiers he liked with the 3.1, along with a list of amplifiers he liked with the 3.2.
He said the 3.1 version was made to pair best with portable amps and tube-based amps (generally) with an output impedance between 10 and 30 ohms.
He said the 3.2 version was made to pair best with strong solid state headphone amps, AND OTL tube-based amps, (generally) with an output impedance under 10 ohms.

I wonder how the reviewers findings (the 3.1 sounds better with this amp, where the 3.2 sounds better with this other amp) correspond with the general parameters Heinz gave for pairing either the 3.1 or 3.2 headphones with particular amplifiers.

Also, I wonder how one can say (or how useful it is to say) the 3.1 does better in this regard, whereas the 3.2 does better in this other regard, when they are specifically made to pair with different amplifier designs? It seems purchasing the correct version to go with your amplifier is the only way to go, and by extension, using the other version with your amplifier should sound worse (or, like the reviewer said about some pairings, like ass...).

Before COVID, I demoed the MySpheres with the Pass Labs HPA-1 and loved the pairing. I should have just purchased that set because instead of $3,400 they now cost $4,800. If they were still $3,400/pair, I would already own them, and my Empyreans would be in someone else's home. I love the Empyreans, but having heard at a recent headphone meet a friend's AKG K1000s (of which Heinz had a part in designing) using the same winged design, I decided the MySpheres were probably the "best" headphone I could buy, to suit my musical tastes: female vocals, some jazz, lots of blues, well-recorded classic rock, and then "different" stuff like The Hu (who have the best "official video" ever on YouTube, featuring their song "Yuve Yuve Yu" - I digress), or some of Taylor Swift's newer offerings (I use "Vigilante crap" regularly for comparisons, say what you will, she is an awfully good lyricist and vocalist...).

Will be glad to hear other people's thoughts. As much as I like the listenability of my Empyreans, I'm pretty convinced the MySpheres, for people with my musical tastes, are one of the more, or most, enjoyable headphones on the market today.

The only thing we can do is make assumption since I am not the reviewer. I believe he have his email information in the website, so you could maybe try to shoot him an email if you are really curious on his thoughts.

I also never heard of or owned a 3.1. Those seem really rare to find in the used market, but I would like to try them one day. It looks like @Kiats owns both the 3.1 and 3.2 so maybe he can chime in if he agrees on the reviewer's perceived difference of the 3.1 being a more “technical and neutral” headphone compared to the 3.2 while the 3.2 is more a warmer sounding and more midrange focus headphone.

I believe the Mysphere 3.2 performs well on the type of music you just listed. One thing to me is that the Mysphere 3.2 will sound “good” on certain recordings and "amazing" depending on the recording. The gap between "good" and "amazing" to me is pretty significant with the Mysphere 3.2. When I had the Susvara, I could pretty much throw any recording on the Susvara and the music would sound very enjoyable still no matter what on my setup. With the Mysphere 3.2, I found myself a little more picky on the recording. So a good and well-produced recording goes a long way with the Mysphere 3.2. I also find that the Mysphere 3.2 truly shines with acoustic music. If your recording has some type of synth or added distortion, I wouldn't expect too much from the Mysphere 3.2 There are exceptions though like Carlos Santana Abraxas album or Yes Fragile album still sounds really good to me on the Mysphere 3.2. But the majority of the time, I do still prefer acoustic music when listening to the Mysphere 3.2 mainly because you can really take advantage of the Mysphere 3.2 amazing mids, soundstage, and dynamics I really like how this headphone presents those three qualities. My favorite genre with the Mysphere 3.2 is classical and female vocals with acoustic/small ensemble music.

Generally speaking, these observations are pretty correct. :)
