very true and correct summary!
Just one remark to get no wrong interpretations: When you write: "While the Mysphere does start to distort at lower volume in lower frequencies than the K1000..." this meas the volume on the potentiomenter of the amplifier! Because MYSPHERE is very sensitive and need only little power, the K1K is just the opposite! It need lot of electric power, because of it's low sensitivity.
If you compare the sound pressures f.i. at 1kHz and turn level up til distortions are audible, then the MYSPHERE has already 10dB more SPL at 50Hz compared to the K1000. (Bass pads used in 1cm distance to the ear entrance).

Recently saw somewhat peculiar mod of the Mysphere. I guess the idea is to reduce the reflection of the sound waves from the metal parts of the soundframes. I guess it is reasonable to believe that to some extent the sound waves produced by the driver are reflected back from the ears to the soundframes and in turn reflected from those metal parts to the ear channel.
I wonder how much such a mod or a similar one can improve the sound.

as long as the cushions are placed as normally and the foam is just placed in between the cushion and the resistive grill, ´the foam would just do someting similar to the "bass-cushions" - of sure not that effective at all.

Out for a product idea that might not take too long to develop, with the decades of experience in headphones you have:

MYSPHERE‘s driver is one of the best and most precise sounding one I’ve ever came by, if not the best.
It’s even extremely capable in regards of output power.

With this driver, create a conventional circumaural ‘phone, maybe in the acoustic style of an AKG K-500 (very open).
Just closed enough to lock in low frequencies up to the point to extend the freq. range down to maybe 20 Hz.

Or even a classical semi-open design - whatever suits best, you got the basic idea?!


I could even imagine a (based on the products) manufactural collaboration with Austrian Audio.
